^No ad in today's paper either. I thought maybe the carrier left it out (wouldn't be the first time) until I came to check your post to see what was on sale.

Well... After your update it looks like it was left out. Thanks!

I went to Amazon to see how much they wanted Vikings Season 2. WTF, you have to be an Amazon prime member to buy it from them? And for ~$8 more than Best Buy's sale?

?

So I took a look.

Holy crap, that's real.
Exclusively for Prime Members
Why would they do such a thing?

You can still buy it re-sellers, but not much of a deal.

Yeah, that's a thing. I think that the titles rotate, and so Vikings will be available again sometime soon for non-Prime members. I suppose they're just trying to add value to Prime and hope that they can keep or add enough new Prime people to make up for those who'll be pissed enough to leave them completely, or buy a lot less from them. In recent years they've really been pushing Prime, and this is just part of it, I think.

Best Buy has decided to selectively pull ads in certain cities. They believe interested customers can check it out on the website.

If you don't mind my asking, how much is it at Wal-Mart? The online price is clearly more than the in-store one, and I didn't get a chance to go over there yesterday.

I'm kinda surprised they pulled it from LA...

The ads are more likely to be pulled from affluent urban areas. It's the rural areas that are still getting ads.

Re: Best Buy DVD prices (April 19th - 25th, 2014)

I wonder what they define as "urban" (also, "affluent"; but that's another story )- I live in Cleveland, but we have several local papers that cover good portions of the metro area, and not in a small way.

The Best Buy ad is in the paper about half the time, I'd always thought it just depended on print runs and/or who was stuffing the inserts in at the plant. I did this one night as a temp at a local paper when I was in high school- lousy, lousy job.

Fifteen bucks. I was surprised.

But your mileage my vary.

I went to two stores on Tuesday; different reasons. Looked about their media area. One store had it (where I bought it) the other did not have it.

I'm fairly rural and the ads seem to have disappeared from newspapers a while ago. For the last few years, it was kind of spotty. Some weeks would have an ad, others wouldn't. I think it's been at least a few months since I've seen a Best Buy ad in the local paper.

We don't take the newspaper regularly, but we will pick up a Sunday paper every now and then, mostly for the ads and coupons.

Thanks! That is a good price, far better than the $22.99-$24.99 elsewhere.

There's one WM near me that hardly ever has anything, but the computer shows it in stock at the next. For that price I'll have to go over there to pick it up tomorrow. Thanks again.
