how come at amazon i see two different box sets one for over $100 and the other for under?
is there more extras or what on one of them?

I'd assume it's the packaging, they both show the same number of discs. The cheaper set appears to be just a box with spindles.

I think those are the older sets, released when Fox controlled The Shield's distribution on DVD. The newer and cheaper set is from Sony.

Not true. Fox initially distributed the first five seasons, but Sony took over before any complete series releases were issued.

It's after 2/13 and BB.com still shows $29.99. Was it ever $24.99 as part of a short sale (not the normal full week) or did you mean to type $29.99?

A $1 drop isn't a big deal, but a $6 drop would bother me. I'm sure it will be $24.99 eventually, but hopefully not for a while so those who bought at $30.99 won't feel like they got suckered already.

It's going to be $24.99 next week at Best Buy, starting on 2/23. If you can wait a little bit longer, I'm sure Amazon will price match.

After saying that, I picked it up a couple years ago for around $30 and flew through the series in two months. It was fantastic.

Does anyone have the newer release of this? Does anyone know how the disc are stored in the set? I saw this in Best Buy today and the box looked a little small to hold 29 discs.

Yeah, I have the 1rst release in "Book" format that had the plastic sleeves to protect the DVD's! I as well went through it very quickly. EXCELLENT show and definitely one of the best cop shows ever on TV IMO!

Looks like I mistyped the date. Sorry about that. If I didn't already have this, I'd be all over it. I bought each of the seasons as they came out and can remember paying $50 a pop on each of the first 4 or 5 seasons. It was money well spent though on a great tv series.

Whoohoo, ordered! There's five stores in Vegas and one in Henderson and only 1 store had it in stock so I got it for in-store pickup because it didn't qualify for free shipping (AND it's backordered). After I placed my order went back and added another one to the cart and selected in-store pickup and now no stores have it in stock so I got the ONE copy they had in all of Vegas and Henderson.


Huh my order says confirming in-store inventory... so if it turns out there were no copies at all locally do they then give me free shipping even though it's under $25 or just cancel my order outright? I'm guessing they're getting rid of them and not restocking.

The way it usually works with Best Buy's in store pickup is if it shows as being available in store, that means there are 3 or more of that particular item on hand. Anything less than 3 will show up as unavailable.

Awesome, so I'm probably in for that one and people going in person may luck out with one. Crazy how little inventory they have, as soon as it's live it's backordered.

And it's now not officially available for shipping, only in-store pickup. Sorry if you live in Vegas I grabbed the only one through the web
