For those with BB credit cards, be warned:

High risk credit card issuer Capitol One has bought HSBC & now owns Best Buy Cards.

They compute interest differently than HSBC did, & I just discovered that though I attempted to pay off my entire interestable balance last month, I was charged interest which HSBC would not have done.

Unless it's an emergency that I can use a BB card on, I AM DONE. Any future BB purchases will be cash, & only if they're lower than Amazon.

We're not talking alot of $'s, but Capitol One is SLIME.

Re: Best Buy Ad - 6/24/12 - 6/30/12

FWIW, I browsed Best Buy's $5 DVD bin last week & found in it Cheezy Flicks' DVD of Sam Peckinpah's Convoy. I'm sure you Peckinpah completists rate this up there with Criterion's Straw Dogs DVD. -wink- Anyway, I was surprised to see Cheezy Flicks at Best Buy. Also in the $5 bin they still have a copy of the 2-disc His Name Was Jason documentary.

They've also had an $8 Blu-ray bin next to the $5 DVD bin for a while. They have John Carpenter's The Thing in the former.

Also, the BB I was at restocked their $10 Fox Blu-rays w/ the $10 Prometheus movie money, including the individual Alien BDs. FYI, the other week I ordered Alien3 online from BB and they shipped the copy w/ the Prometheus movie money. One thing that's nice about the Alien Blu-rays is that all 4 of them have isolated score tracks which, aside from the first DVD release of Alien, are Blu-ray exclusive. I found Prometheus more disappointing than all the Alien sequels combined, but that's another story. At least I got a free Blu-ray out of that movie (the ticket was exactly $10).

Re: Best Buy Ad - 6/24/12 - 6/30/12

Living Deadpan, did you buy that $5 DVD of Convoy? For some reason that was one of my favorite movies when I was a kid, and I have not yet found a proper 2.35:1 anamorphic letterboxed version of it. Is this Cheezy Flicks version of it done properly? If yes, I'd gladly pay $5. How can anyone not love dialogue like this:
"Ever ride in a truck?"
"No."
"Do you want to?"
"Maybe."

Regarding Prometheus, I was disappointed too and only watched it because I got free movie money. However, it was better than Aliens 3 and 4. Spoilers on Prometheus follow.
Spoiler:
I had my own idea from 10-20 years ago (long before I knew anything about Ridley Scott's homeworld intentions), so I was curious how he handled it. I already figured out the aliens were genetically engineered by some super race, so I thought in Prometheus they'd be able to generate them from a computer and possibly build them (like in The Fifth Element) with an atomic genetic machine. Instead, we got a bunch of unexplained vials of goop and a weird life cycle where a drop of goop in a water glass infects a guy who impregnates his wife who has a pre-alien baby which infects a Space Jockey who has the first alien queen to wait for the colonists. And to think that his theory was life on earth came from a Space Jockey suidicidally ingesting some chemicals which caused his body to put organic DNA in the water to become all type of life was pretty bizarre as he tried to throw God out of the mix. Anyway, I know this isn't the place to discuss it, but even with these numerous flaws it was still tolerable. I'm sure my family would never want to see it or especially the computerized C-section, so I think I'll pick up the 3D BD combo set when it gets really cheap in many years. I'd have trouble paying even $15 for it... it's more like $10 and 3D BDs rarely go to $10.

Yep, luckily I had a small balance from a laptop for my wife but payed it off just before this took hold. I would have argued that point with C$ but it might not have gotten you anywhere. But honestly, that was the first time in a couple of years I had used my BB credit card so it can go away for all I care. I agree, Capitol One is nothing but slime and I keep only two credit cards (not counting my debit card) anyway...one from my bank, and one from target. The rest can eat me with their horrid practices.

It just wasn't enough money to be worth my time on the phone. The principle however, is enough to severely curtail use of both the BB & my Big Lots card, which Capitol One also bought from HSBC.

Thanks for the heads up.

Also, for anyone interested, you can price match the complete series of The Unit in store for $9.99 this week since it's on sale online. The store I stopped by didn't have any issues at all and didn't even require a managers override.

I would have dearly loved to have gotten that $200 MSRP set for $10, and that possibility did occur to me, but by the time I got to BB today they'd already fixed their price error online. It's now $90. Which is still a decent price on the set, but obviously not nearly so good.

Congrats to you on getting the deal. I just wish that someone had noticed it sooner so that more of us could've gotten in on it, like with the Big Love Complete Set awhile back.

It was listed as "Not Available Online", so my BB wouldn't price match... This was definitely a YMMV, as usually they'll claim it needs to be in stock at the store you're pricematching to.

Was so tempted to blind buy 21 Jump Street on BD. But, I'm going to rent it 1st. If I like it, I will wait until it drops below $15.

Okay I also wanted to point out something too.

Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels:
Blu-ray Combo Pack (includes DVD and Digital Copy) - $9.99

I found another copy of the above movie in a different display that included an $8 Movie Cash for The Bourne Legacy. It was priced at $14.99. At 1st, I wondered what the difference was and then I saw the $14.99 version was only a BD and had a different skew number.

I didn't try it, and YMMV, but you could try to get the $14.99 BD only version with the Movie Cash and argue it's the same movie. Technically it is.
