I just bought one. Supposedly they've sold over 600,000 already! To bad there's a limit of 1!

My web receipt said they were so backed up it would likely be several hours until it was available. I'm 99.99% sure this is legit.

I think it takes 24 hours for the voucher to show up in your account...I know it says you can't USE it until the deal is over. I didn't get an e-mail either. I wouldn't worry.

It's legit. I purchased one this morning, got the confirmation within 10 minutes, and have applied the GC to my account.

This will not automatically show up in your amazon account. You must use the amazonlocal page and view it there *or* use the link in the email they'll send which will take you to the correct page. On your amazonlocal account page you'll have a button to click which will reveal the GC number that you'll then paste into the appropriate place in your amazon account.

Mine still hasn't shown up in Amazon local. I emailed Amazon local about an hour ago. I'm sure it will show up, but it's a bit irritating. This is more than several hours for me.

^Blame it on the slickdealers who claim to have purchased dozens (or more) of them. At one point the thread about this got closed due to all the flying mud, etc.

Re: $10 Amazon GC for $5-Tuesday only.

Mine showed up at 3:40 AM Wed. Pretty sure i ordered it early on Tues.

My guess is the point of this was a promotion to get subscribers for Amazon local. They likely wanted it to go viral. Not sure how you would have bought more than 1; it would seem to me that in addition to multiple accounts & email addresses it would require deleting cookies each time. More trouble than it's worth imo.

Re: $10 Amazon GC for $5-Tuesday only.

^It also required use of virtual CC. Not only were they checking email and amazon accounts but also if a CC had already been used for the deal. Of course with slickdealers you never know who's blowing off and who's semi-serious. I'm happy with the one I got and I can see a multi-account amazon household being able to get 2 or 3 but, yes, more than that just seems like more hassle than it's worth.

If they were looking for amazon local subscribers they failed with me. I bought the card and left without clicking that "subscribe" button. I get enough junk email as it is.

The users at slickdeals. Supposed to mean "people on the slickdeals forums" but doesn't quite read that way does it?

I wasn't sure if it was a forum or a group of shady retailers!

I agree with your comments and the mystery of SD posts. You never know which posts are trolling or are the truth. I did click on the subscribe just to see what the deals are like for a while. I assume that I can unsubscribe later if I want.

I only did 1 of these yesterday even though our family has 2 accounts with 2 credit cards. Why? Because on the SD thread there was a lot of talk about the "limit 1 per household" wording and how Amazon likes to ban people forever over things like that or returning more items than they feel you should or bugging customer service too often. It hasn't happened to me, but there are tons of stories on the Internet about these things. So I decided it wasn't worth the risk over $5, especially since I have over $100 in stored credits and last I heard if Amazon bans you they just confiscate your stored credits that you paid for by buying Kindle gift cards (i.e. legalized robbery, much like the tax code). It's best not to anger the Amazon/Cancelzon monster, especially if you have stored credits. Those are my opinions.
