Rockford Files Season 5 for $4.09
Last night, I finished James Garner's autobiography and was curious about prices for his movies, so I went to Amazon and found a 3rd-party seller offering new sets of The Rockford Files Season 5 for this absurdly low price. The other seasons are around $30. I ordered it with Prime, so it should be here tomorrow. I've bought other DVDs from this seller and so far no problems, so this should be legit.

Season 5 has been on multiple overstock lists several times. I have never seen any of the others more than once, and never at as low a price as S5 (though this is an especially great price no matter how you slice it!).
I imagine there is a mountain of it in a warehouse somewhere.

Thanks for the tip, Gobear. Next-cheapest online source apparently is Walmart, with dvdpricesearch showing $10 for the season.
BTW, howz the Garner book? I bought the new Myrna Loy (which is great) instead.

Garner must be a laconic interview, because the book is not very long. It's told in Garner's first-person voice, even though it's an "as told to" bio. No major revelations, although he trashes the director of My Fellow Americans, and Garner talks about punching Glen Larson (produced a lot of 70s TV shows) into a trailer. There are separate chapters dedicated to Garner's passions for golf and Formula One racing, even though his health and age no longer allow him to pursue either activity. Garner's a lifelong Democrat, and he's snarky about Charlton Heston being a hypocrite about civil rights in the 60s, participating in marches to look good even though Heston didn't really believe in it, and then turning openly right in the 1964 election.

Amazon doesn't carry all kinds of stuff that is in print. Especially cds. As already mentioned there is probably a ton of season 5 sitting around compared to the other seasons.

If something is OOP or going OOP you should probably still grab it if you really want it (Disney and Criterion especially) BUT literally...there can be pallets of the OOP title sitting in a warehouse somewhere as OS. And sometimes they don't get wholesaled until years after the title went OOP.

http://camelcamelcamel.com/Rockford-...ve=summary&cpf[]=amazon&cpf[]=new (EDIT, won't let me post link including 3rd party, you will just have to turn that on yourself)
It's just weird all around. Universal almost never puts out a complete series of older shows. (Sold rights to Adam-12, Police Woman, McMillian and Wife, etc to Shout!) so for them to put all Rockford Files out, including the made for TV movies tells me they must have sold really well...so why did they have a ton of just season 5??
