I just looked and until now didn't realize that season 3, 4 and 5 go for a lot more than the other seasons. I see the lowest being asked at over 40 bucks a set and new ones being asked more than a hundred for.

That's because Mill Creek has not yet re-released any seasons beyond 2. Those expensive ones are the OOP Anchor Bay sets. Supposedly new ones from Mill Creek are coming, but they will be on fewer disks like the new S1 and S2 sets.

yep, the 4-disc version was from Anchor Bay a while back. I've got all the seasons, and I'm thinking about double dipping because the price is so cheap on the new release.
The original S1 and S2 from Anchor Bay contained syndicated cut of the show, while the new Mill Creek release promised original uncut version. But in order to save cost, they decided to jam more episodes into fewer discs. for the record, the 4-disc picture quality was pretty good, and I fear that the newer release will be too compressed. The original S2 release had pretty good extra, including the 3D episode, making-of and interview, it was their biggest season, with 26 episodes. So I'm guessing the new set will be pretty barebone if they are jamming all the uncut episodes into 3 discs.
Anchor Bay advertised their remaining S3 thru S6 as having uncut version of the show, but I don't really know. hopefully I'll only need to double dip on these two seasons for the uncut episodes.

I bought the Mill Creek versions of Season 1 & 2 of Roseanne on Black Friday for $3.99 each at Target and they're both four-disc. However, they use the infamous Mill Creek flimsy black sleeves to store them in. Maybe that's where they're scrimping.

My season one didn't have the black sleeves but two did. And I'm double dipping. I already had the AB release. Bought the first four when Amazon ran a BOGO years ago. Then had to get the last two from ebay earlier this year
