I saw S 1-3 of Breaking Bad DVD for $14.95 each today. I would have paid 50% of that. This is Big Lots; a liquidator, RIGHT??

I'll probably check out food & lamps at the 20% sale, but even food has gotten pricier at BL then at Kroger.

2 new standard single season dvd box sets today at $20 ea.
Sorry I don't remember the titles. They're shows that are popular with the 25-35 age group that I'm not into.

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)
I'm just wondering out loud, is Biglots paying more for these season sets, thus having to price them higher at $20, or are they still paying what they have historically and just marking them way, way up, hoping to increase their profit margin?
Not sure what Biglots is thinking or doing here...
The 20% off sale is this weekend, might be not be much to look at or buy.

I've seen those $20 season sets. Kind of shocked by the super high price.

Then again, they could be playing with pricing to see what works. They've never really had consistent pricing with season sets. Over the years they been $3, $5, $6, $8, $10, $12, $14, $20. I guess it all sells eventually.

They must be paying more for the sets. I can't imagine that the $8 sets sold quickly enough to think that marking them up to $20 would be a good idea.

I don't remember any $3 box sets that came out as a shipment. There have been a few over the years that were $3, but the ones 2 or 3 Christmases ago were $6. (Actually I'm thinking BF2010). But after that year, most of BL BF's have been pretty bland. Some good stuff, but not a whole lot.

Home.
Picked up the only copy of "The Dark Crystal". Also bought the John Wayne flick, "The Cowboys: Deluxe Edition". A note, give it a shake; feels a bit heavy and you can hear something inside. Not all copies have it. I bought one of these. Inside is eight black and white production photos. Sway.
Saw "Gone With The Wind: The Scarlett Edition" for five bucks. Was excited then I examined. The slipcover wasn't cut on the bar code, it was bored into it. I'm pretty sure, the last disc inside was sliced. Pass. Also saw "Book Of Daniel", the complete series, also five bucks. Good show, already have it.
That's it.

I couldn't tell you the year, but I know The Incredible Hulk, S4 was $3. 3 to 5 years ago? And further back than that, the Hanna-Barbera sets were $3.
I don't expect that again, but the $20 stuff....doesn't even make sense.
Perhaps they are thinking they can try to go "high end" be the Target of the dollar type stores?
I am seeing a restock of a lot of the $8 series they have had for months. With a few new titles tossed in . Heck, I'd pay $10-12 if they could get some older tv series that you never see discounted. (Have Gun Will Travel, Mannix) They have had A few Gunsmoke half seasons in the past. My Three Sons.
I keep meaning to start a new thread (can't now) but there is a real competitor to Big Lots, Ollie's Outlet. Coming soon to a town near you (hopefully)

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)
The one in South Plainfield NJ still had some TV sets at $8. I saw Mentalist 1 and 2, Longmire 2 and a bunch of One Tree Hills and The Office. They had some other sets priced at $14.95 - Fringe 1-4, Vampire Diaries 3, Supernatural 8 (I think) and a few more I don't remember, but they were fairly recent.

Saw the following: All prices are before the 20% off. Not much, I think most have been mentioned before.
Outrage DVD $3
Oranges DVD $3
The Darjeeling Limited DVD (priced at both $3 and $5)
Ides of March DVD $5 (BD is also priced at $5)
Saw the $20 sets, some sets such as The Closer, Longmire, etc, that have been around for a while, priced at $8.
