I wouldn't be the first. And it's not like I hid it in a random place in the store, I just put it in the back of the row it was in (it was on the bottom shelf). With the sale coming up, it would have bugged me to pay full price. Granted, leaving it there for a week, especially the week one of the actors in it died, increased the possibility someone else would buy it, it was a game I was willing to play.

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

My dad was looking at his receipt when he got back from Big Lots and realized he got 40% off everything. The store was taking 20% off everything and he had a coupon which he printed out that took an additional 20% off everything.

Unfortunately, for me, I could not find any movies I wanted that I did not already own. The selection that store has is not particularly good.

The store was located in Moncks Corner, SC.

Went to the Niles, IL store for the first time in as many months and the selection is just pitiful there...In Like Flint, Pure Country 2 and many other movies on small racks located at the back of the store, but NO TV shows whatsoever and on top of all that, their AC unit was busted so it was hotter than hell in there. Hoping BL does get some new merchandise in soon.

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Dropped in today to see if anything good was there...didn't see anything I wanted.

Ended up buying 2 Hot Wheels Cars though and saved $0.64 off that purchase.

Mom went back later in the day and bought paper goods and cleaning supplies.

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Went to the Newnan GA store last night. Lots of DVDs, but kind of like the Union City store, more quantity than quality, but at least some new stuff. Oh, and if anyone goes there, they have moved them away from were they used to be(walk straight in and they are there) and moved them way over to the left side of the store, by electronics. Saw just a few older movies, like Love is a Many Splendored thing, and Speed, ok, that's not old. But, it is a SE for $3 so grabbed it. Saw Taxi S1, McCloud S1andS2(for those that haven't seen the set, S1 and S2 is just one set, and I think I read the first season shows were morphed into longer shows/movies, but 2 shows into 1? Something like that, don't quote me ) I should also mention anyone on the fence on those...I don't remember liking McCloud much as a kid, liked Columbo, McMillian and Wife, Snoop Sisters, Banacek, basically everything more than McCloud. Well, perhaps the show jumped the shark later, or just lost better writers because I did grab it a few years back at Big Lots, and was really surprised how good it was! Now I wish they would release the other seasons to see if I misjudged the show all along, needed to be an adult(by why did I like the other "adult" shows?) or if it just tanked after a few seasons. Anyway, worth $8 or $10 since its out of print...
Saw a few of the Star Trek mash up sets, Star Trek Atlernate Realities was one of them....saw Spongebob s4, v1 and v2, and S5, v1 and V2, a few of each.

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

I went to a BL that I normally don't go to during the 20% off sale. Last time I went a few months ago they had a bin and a tower. This time they had 1 small 2-sided display with $3 DVDs on one side and $5 on the other. There were a few $10 box sets mixed in. On both sides there were less than 100 DVDs total. It took me about 1 minute to look at the entire display. The manager happened to walk by and I asked where are the rest of the DVDs. She said that little display was it. I said last time I was here I thought you had a tower and a palette. She said they did but they made her lock it up in the back, so all they have is the tower. I didn't understand the reason why, but it was the most pathetic DVD selection I've ever seen at a BL.

So, have other BL stores had their DVD sections stripped down to almost nothing or is this particular store a special case? I haven't visited my nearest store for a while, so I hope they haven't lost their DVD tower too. While I rarely find anything I want there, I still would like BL stores to carry a decent selection. It gives me something to do while killing time for others to shop there.

Chard, before you get TOO excited, remember that the 1st episode/Pilot isn't included in the S1 set. You've got to get the Gold Box edition to get that episode.

Your point being? I've done it and why not? This forum IS called "DVD BARGAINS."

It has amazed me that with the last 3-4 batches of new stuff reported, very little of it has shown up in L.A. or Chicago, the second and third largest cities in the country. Who runs Big Lots that they don't grasp this elementary logic of Economics 101: More customers means more sales.

That's weird. I would have countered by saying that the point of having merchandise is to sell it. Unless she was being sarcastic?

Never saw one myself. BL does get OOP odds and ends regularly enough, so I guess anything's possible. I own a S1, but only because I bought it from EBay around the time S2 first appeared (Black Friday 2010 ?).

The season one set ("Twin Peaks") include commentaries and other extras which didn't carry over to the Gold Box. If you want the entire extras you need all three releases.

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

I went to a Big Lot store in San Antonio. The DVD selection was sparse, and I asked a manager. Do you have DVD's anywhere else in store? Her answer was that the store was flagged as a "High Theft Store", so the DVD selection (high theft item) is smaller.

I went to another store, and found a higher selection...Not sure, if there are other reasons for some stores having disappearing selection as mentioned by Manzana. Maybe the manager was ordered to recall high theft items?

Due to my job, I was able to visit a total of 6 stores in the San Gabriel Valley, north Orange County and the San Fernando Valley. Most stores had only a few items that I was interested in. Two stores were a complete bust. All the stores seemed to have various seasons of Dynasty. With Biglots it really seems to be a scavenger hunt!

Reminds me that I haven't been to the one in South Sacramento in a while. I ALWAYS find at least one DVD case there that someone had opened and swiped the disc from. One of them was the Steve Martin "Pink Panther", and I assumed having to watch that movie was suitable punishment for the stealer.

Interesting. I would've thought the manager would've mentioned theft to me if that was the reason for taking away the main 4-sided display tower. What's weird about that is these are mostly $3 and some $5 DVDs, so first I have trouble understanding why someone would risk jail over stealing a $3 or $5 item and also that BL would be so worried about losing the occasional $3 or $5 DVD that they would take away most of the DVDs. I don't see opened DVDs very often, though most of the time I just check the labels on the top (oh how I wish all DVDs had 1 security sticker on the top with the name of the movie... it makes browsing so much faster).
