Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

I've spoken w/ 2 managers this week & gotten opposing info:

Manager #1 said all they had received were 3 small boxes of $3 titles & their understanding was that all $3 titles would ring at $1.88 on Friday

Manager #2 said they did have several boxes of $1.88 DVD's in the back room for BF, but they didn't have the time to look for me & see if the titles were worthwhile.

I have no clue which is correct; I know both of these people pretty well.

Was getting ready to come and ask if anyone knew anything more for here. Guess I will have to venture out in the morning to see.

Really hoping they have some TV seasons show up that were not expected

This has got to be the lamest 1.88 shipment I've ever seen. Had nothing to do (since I've been monitoring this forum and blu-ray.com and there have been no real deals this BF morning), so I took a trip to BL. Believe me, what you see in the ad is representative of what they have. Picked up Mystery Men and I Know Who Killed Me since I was there, but may actually return them since the BD is available. Totally pathetic.

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

^Agree! I went in to pick up a few video games for stocking stuffers and took a look at the DVDs. *NO ONE* was looking at the $1.88 display and the titles were mostly restock. The only new ones that stuck out were:

Don Knotts Reluctant Hero Pack (actually a steal at $1.88 but I already own it and don't know anyone else who would appreciate these films)
My Favorite Blonde/Star Spangled Rhythm - Double Feature with Bob Hope (again I already own this and know no one else who is a Hope fan)

They had some of the $10 TVonDVD sets. I saw:

The Waltons - S1
Sponge Bob - S4V1, S4V2, S5V1, S5V2
House M.D. - S1
The Black Donnellys - The Complete Series
Jeremiah - S1
Wacky Races - The Complete Series

Basically what everyone else has reported. These, too, were not being looked at although it appeared a few had sold (a couple from each small carboard box/display). The only one I'm even remotely interested in purchasing is Jeremiah but I don't know enough about the series to drop $10 on a blind buy. Were these $6 like last year I probably would have snagged a copy. *EDIT* - looked up Jeremiah to find S2 is only available as DVD-R so it'll be a pass for sure as the total cost for both seasons would be more than I'm typically willing to pay for the number of episodes on a blind buy series.

Considering the truly *great* deals I've been getting on TV sets from Amazon this week I couldn't bring myself to pick up anything DVD wise this year.

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Portland,OR==Mall 205/S.E. Washington location:

The worst batch ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Was there when they opened up at 6:00 am. The display was in a odd spot where no one noticed or seen it. I was the first person to approach the two sided water fall $1.88 display. Got to scan each and every single title in the display and even go back over it twice. Total garbage. Pure junk. Not even one title I would even pay $1 for at for example a Dollar Tree. Probaly at about 6:15 the rest of the store discovered the display (LOL).

My luck I'm the first to the un-touched display. I get darn near 15 minutes to look at everything. And it's the worst batch I've ever seen in over nine years of shopping this chain here in the northwest. And when I say worst batch ever.....I'm including non Black Friday batches too.

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Agreed with what you all have said. I did pick up a Blu Ray they had of Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (somehow it rang up for less than $5 inclduing tax when it was supposed to be like $7 I thought).

But other than that, nothing of interest. I would have liked that Don Knotts or Bob Hope ones but my store didn't have them. Would have been something really cheap I could have given my parents that they would have enjoyed.

Was really hoping they would have some unadvertised stuff but...

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Regarding the $7 movies, are they gonna ring up $4 tomorrow or is there another "specially" priced batch.

With some of these reports, I almost want to check out some other BL's, but don't know if it's worth it or not. The 2nd and 3rd closest ones to me are about 20-25 minutes away, in different directions. Don't know if it worth it this late in the game.

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Hope I can find Andromeda Strain, been wanting that a while. Flash of Genius is really good, will get that one. Neither at location I went to. Saw a double feature of 52 Pick Up/Deal for $1.88. 52 Pick Up has been pretty expensive, so a great deal, it was a two disc set, but I don't buy double feature packages...

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Just came back from the BL in Boyertown,Penna. I went in the store looking for the $1.88 display thinking that it was the $3 DVD's selling for $1.88 . I asked the clerk who pointed to where the CD display usually was and sure enough there where two carboard boxes of movies priced at $1.88 each.

I started to pick out maybe $35.00's worth and then saw the ad saying that if you purchased $50.00 or more you would receive a $10.00 coupon on your receipt for next time. Since that 20% off nets to $1.50 per DVD, I added more DVD's and other purchases bringing the total to over $50.00.

The $1.88 DVD's which net to $1.50 which I purchased are:

Decoys-the second seduction
The Man Who Wasn't There
Hollowman2
Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist
I Know Who Killed Me-Lindsay Lohan
Love And Other Disasters-Brittany Murphy
The Narrows
The Marc Pease Experience
Disgrace-John Malkovich
Hamlet-Catherine Keener,Elisabeth Shue
Cold Comfort Farm-Kate Beckinsale
Fall Down Dead-Dominique Swain
Rory O'Shea
So Little Time-Mary-Kate Olsen,Ashley Olsen
Wind Chill-Emily Blunt
K-Pax-Kevin Spacey,Jeff Bridges
Driftwood
Balls Of Fury-Christopher Walken
The Musketeer-Catherine Deneuve
Leatherhead-George Clooney,Rene Zellweger
Introducing The Dwights-Australian comedy
Ultraviolet-Milla Jovovich
The Grudge-Sarah Michelle Geller
Hollywood Homicide-Harrison Ford
My Super Sweet 16-S1& S2 together

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Sanford FL store at 17/92 and lake mary Blvd. was kind of pitiful. Found one small waterfall dsplay that probably held less than 50 of the $1.88 DVDs. Almost bought Here Comes Yogi Bear and that newer horror movie with Dennis Quaid as an underetaker but it wasn't worth standing in line so I will try and pick those up later. They were $3 each. Just saw that Don Knotts boxed set at Walmart last week and almost picked it up for $8. I'll keep looking for that at BL.

I think that Don Knotts set is one of those dreaded Universal DVD-18s, but still a great deal for those who don't have the individual releases.

I thought EXPERIMENT IN TERROR was long OOP and going for big bucks. Would love to find that one, ANDROMEDA and the Bob Hope double.

Is it just $1.88 today only?

Yes, it is, but it's worth the risk at that price.

If they do like before those will be $1.88 until they sell out as they are pre-priced with the $1.88 sticker. Just a couple of weeks ago I stumbled across a $1.88 leftover from last year!

Coming out on Blu-ray in January from Twilight Time, just FYI.

The NoHo store on Vineland Ave had a very small, lackluster selection of the 1.88 titles. None of the classic titles reported, only stuff that's been at BL in the past (and oddly enough, a number of horror titles from the past Halloween batch). I went in around 11AM and the displays were still 95% full.

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Despite what was told, (at manager apologized), Both Brdgeport & Pearl (Tacoma WA) got small $1.88 batches.

With the caveat that I saw Pearl at 3:30 & Bridgeport about 4:15, it was pretty junky & Pearl's rack of $1.88's was still over 90% full.

Bridgeport had a few interesting $3 titles, including separates from the Harryhausen box. Bridgeport also had forgotten to take down yesterday's BIGI sign on the $5 dvd's, which caused a couple angry customers, even though the sign said Thursday only. I didn't even look at the $5's. They also still had a full very small display if $10 seriesm & about 1/2 of a $7.99 BR display.

To me the #1 item was the $5.88 Kodak 16 gb USB flash drives.

I agree with that statement. The BL price was the lowest I saw for the 16GB drives.

The B2G2 video games was also OK. I was able to pick up a few inexpensive stocking stuffers (of actually good games) with that deal.

My store had only low end stuff for 1.88. That is an unusual find.
