Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

A manager in Big Lots store in Augusta, GA told me that there would be a 20% off "Friends and Family" day on Sunday, July 15th.

Also found the Charles Bronson film 10 to Midnight (which I don't think has been mentioned yet)

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Went to the local yesterday evening.....they had gotten in some new stuff but nothing I was interested in so didn't pay much attention.

They had shifted around stuff again and had partially restocked the oversized 4 sided cardboard shipper.

And the normal 4 sided wire rack had been narround down to 2 and a half sides the other parts were empty or had stray books laying on them.

It looked like they had gotten in a straight case of ESPN Year in Review from I think '06 and that dern Dirty Sanchez movie....had around 20+ copies of each.

Thanks for the heads up on the next 20% off. I was thinking it was about time for another. The sad part is I doubt I'll buy any movies at all with the 20% but just household supplies and stuff. Big Lots still has lots of DVDs, but they are such old movies that I've already picked up what I wanted, and when people post newly found titles they are usually ones that don't interest me or ones that aren't necessarily "first time ever at Big Lots". Cheap BDs have pretty much crushed my desire to buy $3 or $5 DVDs at BL. Within a couple years whatever movie I want will be on BD for $5-$10. The PQ/AQ is worth the few extra bucks and the wait.

Regarding the Bond comments, it's great that BL has them for sale relatively cheap. All of them are worth watching. My least favorite was George Lazenby which is the only one I don't (want to) own. For me, even if I didn't already own all 4 of the James Bond Ultimate DVD sets (which I foolishly paid $35 or $44 each in 2006), I would wait for the BDs rather than buy them for $5 each at BL. I already own double dips of 11 Bonds on BD most of which I bought brand new for $5-$7 each. My most expensive Bond BD was QoS CE for $9.99 where I overpaid, but at least that wasn't a double dip.

I just hope that whatever the next HD format is isn't dramatic enough to try to make me rebuy everything a 3rd time. BD is pretty good. They'd have to at least double the resolution again before it would be tempting, and how many years would it take until we get reasonably priced HD2 TVs and BD players? I'm hoping BDs will be my last movie format for a long time.

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

The annoying thing about this batch is how few copies per title are available per store (two copies, at best).

Beverly, NJ has:

The Sum of Us
Gun Fight
Amos & Andrew
Terror in a Texas Town
Frankie and Johnny
Dance With Me Henry
A Song is Born
The Fabulous Baker Boys
The Pride of the Yankees
Mega Python vs Gatoroid
Truck Turner
Breaking In
Illegally Yours
The Boost

Picked up The Thin Blue Line, The Crook, and Electra (surprise! it's the one based on the play, not the comic book character).

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

I don't know if anyone mentioned it before, but I found the special edition of Lawrence Of Arabia at Big Lots for $5 recently. This was the 2000 two-disc DVD that was bound like a linen-covered book, a pretty old version but the film looks great.

I'm beginning to like these older DVDs with the minimal warnings and disclaimers that you can click through, no annoying auto-previews, etc.

Found a few Warner titles at the Longwood Fl store. Copycat and TMNT 3 are the only ones I remember at this point. I'm going to have to start hunting for Truck Turner and Black Mama, White Mama. Scream Blacula Scream would be welcome also.

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

I stopped by the Kansas City, KS (State Avenue) store Saturday. They finaly received another shipment of DVDs, it's the same primarily MGM shipment that other stores have been getting.

I picked up the sole (remaining?) copy of Konga at the store -- in case anyone is interested this is the individual release of the movie. MGM would re-release Konga along with Yongary - Monster of the Deep as part of their Midnight Movies double feature series (incidentally, this is the only way to get Yongary).

Unfortunately no sign of the orange display that had Silverhawks (or the show), hopefully the show will turn up in a future shipment of DVDs.

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Midwest City, OK had nothing new to speak of, but NW 63rd & May in OKC had a new big display with all of the Bond discs, 1 copy of Plasticman and a lot of other stuff mentioned here. No Bergman titles. I got "Ghosts of Mars" for $3 and The 2-Disc SE of "Big Trouble in Little China" for $5. Also "Mega Python vs Gatoroid" (don't judge me!) for $3.
They also had some knock-off Girl Scout cookies for $1.40 that were pretty good. I got the ones that were like "Samoas". They were a little too sweet but roughly one-third the price of the real thing.

The one batch I've seen (while still boxed up) only had 1 ea of the Bergmans.

Finally found Black Hawk Down (3-Disc Deluxe Edition) for $5 today. I had stopped looking for it long ago, so when I came across it today I was very pleased. Perhaps I'll get lucky and find Silverhawks and Plastic Man at some point as well.

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Very minimal additions at the Culver City, CA store, just a few of the MGM stuff that's been reported. Several copies of THE THIN BLUE LINE, ELECTRA and MARRIED TO THE MOB. A single copy of THE DEFIANT ONES (not anamorphic) and a couple of GUNS OF THE MAGNIFICENT 7. Don't remember if those have been reported.

All I got was THE FORTUNE COOKIE and THE SERPENT'S EGG (also not anamorphic). Would love to find more Wilder and Bergman.
