The Culver City, CA BL confirms everything SurfinHank reported above plus what I believe is a newly constructed wing of the store just to house all the copies of PONTIAC MOON.

One location I visited this weekend had pulled all their DVDs completely.

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Pearl St Tacoma Wa got in a ton of copies of about 30 titles. Nothing special; the only title that i noticed worth mentioning that wasn't already listed here on the last page is a John Wayne movie, Texas Cyclone.

In fact this batch is so weak, i'm a bit surprised that with the issues I've been told of with them sitting on dead inventory that they would even go for titles this mediocre.

I don't know if that's a sign of things to come and bad news to hear or really good.

Maybe that store manager realized that the stock they had just wasn't going to sell so they sent it back to the factory?

I got some of those titles that they had multiples of. I got mother lode, pursued, me and orson welles,
x-15, and some others. Still pretty good for 3 dollars.

I posted a couple pages back that i was given some insider info that BL is recalling many of the dvd's from the stores that are just sitting. My information was they were likely going to liquidate them & use the $'s for new stock.

That's a big part of my surprise regarding the weak titles in the new batch.

There were at least ten at Pearl in the new batch.

No DVD display on the sales floor looks better than a near empty display. A near empty display makes it look like you are going out of business. They probably pulled them until they get more stock. One location i go to also pulled the wire rack but brought it back along with the old crap when they got more stock.

So I guess we should maybe be keeping an eye on the "Dollar Tree" dvd stock?

Not sure if it's already been mentioned and too lazy to check, but THE 5,000 FINGERS OF DR. T was also part of the new batch.

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Just hit the one in Topeka, KS. The store there had a bunch of new stuff I hadn't seen at Big Lots before, but they did something weird with the shelving. Besides those "Hollywood movies for $3/5" stands, they had two large shelves that were lined up like books in a library, but they were three rows of dvds deep. In most cases, it was the same dvd on all three rows, but there were enough different ones that, I had to go through each row, which was annoying. Some of the titles I saw:

Superman The Movie (theatrical edition)
Nightmare on Elm Street 3
Space Ghost, Coast to Coast Vol. 2
Sex in the City
Don't Mess with Zohan (unedited)
Knocked Up (unedited, but full screen)
Ace Ventura, Pet Detective
Uptown, Saturday Night
Frankenstein: The True Story (Jane Seymour, James Mason)
one of the Mummy sequels
one of the Ninja Turtles movies
Big Trouble in Little China
Shrek the Third
Antz
several Nickelodeon cartoons
and a bunch more I am forgetting.

Didn't find any of the animated titles I was looking for (Plastic Man, Superman Vol. 2, or the 1970s Saturday morning collections), but I did pick up Big Trouble in Little China and a couple of copies of
of Space Ghost, Coast to Coast Vol. 2.

Saw a sign that they are doing another 3 DVDs for $8 this coming weekend for Buzz Club members.

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Visited the local BL tonight and was surprised to see them nearly back at full strength! The two cardboard stand-ups were full and there was only a little empty space on the wire rack:

$5
The Frighteners Special Edition
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
My One and Only
Hoosiers 2-disk Special Edition
Rocky 2-disk Collectors Edition
Thelma and Louise
Waiting Forever
Mad Max Special Edition (2007)
Emma
Bonneville
West Side Story (2003, full screen)

$3
The Big Red One
Orgazmo Special Edition
Free Willy: Escape From Pirate's Cove
Samurai Jack: The Premiere Movie
Escape From Fort Bravo
Sex and the City: The Movie
Safe Men
The Old Man and the Sea
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III

They also had more copies of Metropolis (anime), the Brokeback Mountain 2-disk, and the King Kong 3-disk (2006). I didn't buy anything, but this should still be very good for their DVD business.

Yes, but not the original animated version that was at Big Lots three years ago, this is the Cartoon Network's weird talk show from the 90s with Space Ghost as the host and Zorak as his band leader. The store had more than a dozen copies of Vol. 2, but none of the other four volumes.

I prefer that one to the original. Was it $3?

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

A lot of the new $3 titles showed up today at the NoHo store on Vineland Avenue, again not a lot of different titles, just 15 or 20 copies of everything. Some of the ones I remember:

Saturday Morning Cartoons 1970s: Vol. 2
Superman The Movie (theatrical edition)
Nightmare on Elm Street 3
Knocked Up
Shrek the Third
Get Carter (Stallone)
Demolition Man
If Lucy Fell

Yes, the Space Ghosts were $3. The funny thing is that I almost bought Vol. 2 a few months ago during the WB sale, but held. Glad I did and saved a couple of bucks.
