Thanks for the info snydar. Nothing there that I need except maybe Longmire (I still need to check that show out), but do appreciate the update.

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Stopped by the Lumberton, NJ store, among other places, over the past few weeks. All of them pretty much had the latest set of $5 Blu-rays, along with signage for 50% off Nip/Tuck, Gilmore Girls, The OC, Southland, and Gossip Girl. Also saw some $8 TV sets, mostly at the Franklin Mills store:

The Office S1, S3, S4, S5, S6 (S6 was a Blu-ray set)
Friday Night Lights S1, S3, S4, S5
La Femme Nikita S2, S3, S5
Seinfeld S1+S2, S9
Smallville S1
Lois & Clark S2
The Closer S1, S4
Without a Trace S2
House S8 (Blu)

Only other new-ish titles that I haven't seen mentioned here or in the other thread were Stoker ($3 DVD), Bullet to the Head (ditto), and Rigor Mortis/Geung si ($3 Blu). Mind you, these were stupidly limited in supply--just one copy each across three stores.

Was very excited to find "All About Eve" & "Easy Rider" in their "book set" form for $5 each in Northern GA. Wish I could find Season 8 of "House" on Blu, tho!

I don't think so. The 2 for $14 signs are gone (at least in the 2 stores that I visited recently) and these newer batches of TV series seems to have been restickered in a rather odd way.

Originally when this new batch of TV series came out (Chuck, Fringe, Southland, The O.C. 2.5 Men, Gossip Girls, etc.) they had the usual price tag that had a certain color in the upper left hand corner. They were marked at $8 each, but if you bought 2 they rang up at the register automatically at $7 each.

This latest batch of titles, (The Closer, Longmire, Two broke girls, etc) have the traditional price tag with the color square in the upper left hand corner with the preprinted price of $8, but have been stickered over with the price tag that is usually used for markdowns (horizontal style of price tag with orange color running all the way across the top half of the sticker, but the preprinted price is still $8.

The only reason I can think of is that the original price tag triggers the 2 for $14 deal, while the restickered tv sets do not.

I'm not sure if these orange markdown stickers are applied at each store or are applied en-mass at the distribution centers.

I bought Longmire S1 and S2 with the double stickers and did not get the 2 for $14 price.

Anybody else with experience or ideas on this issue? Enquiring minds want to know! As always, YMMV at Biglots! Happy Shopping!

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Hit the local BL today. Nothing for me other than food.

Very low dvd stock. They have a ton of copies of some TV series I've never heard of that starts with an "F". (Frantic???) Evey time I've seen it (they've had 'em for weeks) I can never remember the name, but I'm 99% certain the first letter is "F"; & it is NOT Friday Night Lights. Also a few copies of some Teen Age Vampire TV series I've never heard of.

All the tv boxes were priced $8. I didn't try to buy any, so can't comment on what they might have rung up at.

Oh, they did have 1 copy left of "Love Story".

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Went to Big Lots yesterday, saw that they had a color-coded sale going on, found 3 that I was interested in, took them to the register, and found out the 3 I picked were color-coded with the only color not represented in the sale: green. Wouldn't normally have bought them but figured if they were going to be cheaper than cheap I'd go ahead and get them. But no. Fucking Big Lots, why did they exclude green from their sale?

Fringe? It's a SF/Mystery series in the X-Files vein.

From IMDB:
A television drama centered around a female FBI agent who is forced to work with an institutionalized scientist in order to rationalize a brewing storm of unexplained phenomena.
It's not bad. If you enjoy X-Files you should enjoy this as well (it's *not* a clone/rip off). I'd purchased S1 for under $3 as a blind buy and when BL got them I took advantage of the 2/$14 with a 20% off coupon to snag S2-S5 (it only ran for 5 seasons). There are reviews of all 5 seasons here on DVDTalk.

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Stopped by my local store to see if the coupon would be worth using.

I saw some things I hadn't seen before: The 1st & 2nd season of Heroes and seasons 2, 3 & 4 of Glee. All on DVD for $14 each!

Sorry for bumping the thread to share a non-deal.

They must have produced a boatload of those Heroes seasons. They continue to pop up on clearance at just about every retailer.

I saw all of those too, along with lots of copies of Simpsons S10-12 & 20. And the Glee Concert movie. It wasn't until well after I'd left the store that I realized that I'd forgotten to check the prices though. Sorry.

^Those two were possibly the only thing "new" at the store here. It's possible they've been here a while as it's been a couple of weeks since I last took a look at the offerings and the sets were scattered among 3-4 waterfall displays. I keep looking for a copy of Smallville S1 to give it a sample but so far I've come up empty handed.

They *did* have *one* copy of the Harry Potter 1-7pt. 1 films (missing 7 pt. 2) on BR for $20. I don't recall seeing that before.

Other than that it was wasted time (in spite of the weekly ad indicating "new" stuff). 9 waterfall displays with what appears to have been *zero* added.

Fringe sounds familiar. That's probably it.

9 waterfall racks? Consider yourself lucky. The local store has 1 4 sided wire rack. It's at least 1/2 empty. 1 side is overpriced cd's, 1 side is the 2 TV series boxes & kids movies, 1 side is LAME $3 titles, & 1 side is weak $5 titles.

I will second Fringe being an awesome show, but no way I am picking up the DVD over the BR on that one.

The local store has a lot of them, & they've had them for a month. If they drop to $4, I might do a blind buy based on the comments here.

Fringe is a great show past the lesser first season.

However, I still get chills down my spine when I think about the big ending of the first season....one of the best TV moments ever.

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Yup, I just saw the $14 TV sets. I was shocked, had to switch my pacemaker to turbo mode so I wouldn't faint.

The $14 TV sets:

Simpsons S10, S11, S12, S20
Glee S2, S4
Heroes S1, S2

I guess these high prices will discourage the resellers from swooping in and buying everything, but it also discourages the casual shopper from buying also.

I did see one classic, The Wolf Man (Claude Rains, Bela Lugosi) marked at $5.

Note to the management of Biglots. If you really want to move the merchandise, I suggest the following price points for media:

Kid Dvds $3
Movie Dvds $3
Movie BDs $5
TV seasons $6 to $8.

$14 for TV seasons is way too high, although I guess it would allow for a 50% off sale to bring these outrageous prices down to $7 each.

I've now calmed down enough to switch my pacemaker back to regular mode.

Fringe lasted 5 seasons. I saw all five for $8 each. Already have BR as this is one of our favorite series

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

I had a $5 off $15 coupon so I picked up seasons 1-4 of Gossip Girl for $11. I thought about stretching the coupon to $15 off $45 by picking up the last four seasons of Friday Night Lights, but I couldn't find season 2.

I also saw the new $14 TV sets. There was also a few American Dad and maybe Family Guy sets that were $8 each. I thought it was weird to have The Simpsons and Glee be at $14 while American Dad is $8, since they're both Fox releases.
