Should I expect any YMMV on this in regards to the 8/40?.
This scenario should go through without a hitch. The CSR just has to try scanning it. Some clerks like to over scrutinize the terms before they even try to scan it. They tend to reject it out of inexperience rather than actually processing it.

This thing ends on the 21st, right? Might snatch "House," haven't decided yet.

Will there be any overlap with next week's releases?

I just ordered the COLORS: TRILOGY set and B&N just told me the release date has been rescheduled, thus delaying my shipment. Anyone else get this notice on their pre-orders?

I got a notice like that on my preorder, which was originally scheduled to ship on the 15th. By last night I hadn't gotten any further update, so I just went into the local B&N and bought it there, and cancelled my online preorder.

Kind of a hassle, but not a big one.

I went to my local B&N last night with 5 of the new 20% off coupons. Bought 5 BLUs for about 15.50 each with my membership. I love this sale.

Four Feathers
Island Of Lost Souls
Kuroneko
Phantom Carriage
Great Dictator

I plan on getting 3 or 4 more tonight.

I love this sale too -- got a batch of new single Blus, the BBS set on Blu, Berlin Alexanderplatz for $46, and yesterday got Carlos on Blu-ray and the new Rules of the Game for $26 + tax. Sweet.

It's a great sale, but I'm kicking myself for missing the short window when pre-orders were 50% off. Of course, that was on Day 3 of the 10 day blackout we endured.

I picked up The Night Porter on DVD with my last 15% coupon. I now see its non anamorphic. I'm thinking about returning it. I've never seen it though. Thoughts?

It's one of the very few CC's I've seen that I didn't like. I was intrigued at first, but it just turned stupid. I'd return it if it was a blind buy.

Have to agree with John on this one dex. Night Porter was a blind buy for me way back when it came out and it just didn't work for me. But thats my 2 cents, to each his own.

Thanks. I'm so interested in seeing it. I love the cover. I only paid 12 bucks...but I'm really anal about buying non-anamorphic dvds

Took your advice Chucky and did the same. Ironically I have a B&N in my city that doesn't carry dvd's, so I ended up travelling an hour west of here to get this dvd set.

Oh phooey -- got more 20% off coupons in the mail yesterday, so I went out and bought Blu-rays of Robinson Crusoe on Mars and Wings of Desire -- $30 including tax. But I'm DONE now. You hear me, B&N, I'm DONE!!!

I hit 3 stores over the weekend and filled some major holes - final haul:

Bottle Rocket
Broadcast News
The Darjeeling Limited
Howards End
Island of Lost Souls
Sweet Smell of Success

No issues with the coupons I used; everyone was great. I love this sale!

Has this happened to anyone else? I ordered the Late Ozu Eclipse set during the sale, but when I checked the order status, B&N has constantly said it is backordered.

Today I received an e-mail saying that I had a choice of extending the order by 30 days or cancelling. I chose to extend, but seriously WTF? It's been more than a month since I placed the order, is B&N having trouble getting stock from vendors? Is this a sign that they may go tits-up next year as Borders did this year?

Re: B&N 50% Criterion Sale starting Tuesday, Nov. 1st...

I think the Nook is putting them in a better place than Borders was financially- but anything can happen.
I expect we'll see more and more of the CD/DVD departments closing next year, but I don't expect B&N to go under in 2012.

Don't know what the deal is with the Ozu set. I had two Criterions that I was able to pre-order at 50% off, that didn't street until the first week of December- well after the sale was over. I wouldn't have been surprised to see them get canceled- and when street day came I did get an e-mail saying there was some issue with these and shipment would be delayed. The ended up shipping about a week later. OTOH, last year in the week after Christmas there were a ton of ridiculous box set deals that were coming fast and furious. Those ended up getting canceled willy nilly, only to be offered again a day or two later at the same extreme discounts.
B&N has some great deals this time of year, but they can also be quite schizo.

Might be worth emailing Criterion & asking if there is a supply issue.

Called B&N earlier and they said that the 40% of Blu sale goes through the 24th.
