I wish it was only $19.95. I would have sprung for it at that price. But all I'm seeing is $34.95. Bummer...

I wish they'd list the films in this collection. I'm sure it's the first seven in the series, but it'd be nice to know as I have been buying the UK releases.

EDIT: And I just got an email from Warners confirming that these are the first seven. I'd only be double-dipping on two films and the overall price is a bit better than picking up the individual R2 DVD's (especially if I wait for a sale). Pressed discs would be preferable, but as the UK discs are a little jittery on all three of the player's I've tried them on I think the WA set is still a step up.

Anyone know if there are some trailers included in this set or is it just the films? If it's the latter, my TCM copies will suffice. Being from the beat up RKO library I doubt WA has any done any restoration or remastering on these.

I've been meaning to post a review on my blog when I get the free time (ha!), so I have some info to hand.

There's a (rather washed-out) photo gallery of stills on The Falcon's Brother, but aside from the reproduction film posters on the inside sleeves that's it.

The prints have not been remastered but they are in decent shape. Most bear the C&C Television Corp logo on the title card, but The Falcon's Brother still has the RKO logo.

The jitter is much less noticeable on my Philips blu-ray player, which does not convert PAL to NTSC. The picture looks a lot nicer, too.

When I got the first discs months ago I thought the framing was rather tight. But I did a comparison to some avi files I have of the TCM broadcasts and they look the same.




Just about everything above applies to the French Saint box set, except that has a lot of extras (albeit mostly in French).

Finally, I have an extra, sealed copy of The Falcon Takes Over if anyone is interested in a deal.

Based on your reviews, it sounds like my TCM copies will suffice unless someone reports trailers on the WA releases, which I doubt. I don't think they've included trailers on any of the series sets thus far.
