fidodido, out of curiosity, the San Jose Fry's Sunday ad really listed all of those BDs in it and provided no price? Was it just a list of titles or did they actually put pictures with each? If it's the latter it seems like they are just trying to fill space as they have fewer and fewer deals.

I guess I don't understand the point of a store advertising something without a price. I wonder how many calls I'd get if I posted items for sale on Craigslist or eBay without a price. Oh wait. I don't think they allow it.

I definitely don't get Fry's advertising and all of their 1-day only sales. It seems like almost every ad except Friday is a 1-day sale now, and so many of those ads either don't provide a price or won't provide a name or model number. I guess Fry's must live in constant deathly fear of MAP (minimum advertised price) gestappos monitoring them or of people PM'ing their ads elsewhere. Fry's should lighten up on the PM fear because so few retailers carry anything in stock any more, it's pretty hard to find an item that Fry's advertises that's in-stock anywhere else. I learned that no retailer which PMs in my area sells JVC headphones any more, and not a single item in last weeks' 2 for $12 BDs was carried by BB, Target, or Walmart. Oh well. Sorry to rant about Fry's. I'm always glad you post the Fry's deals, though I do think you should save yourself the time of posting items Fry's doesn't bother to put prices on.

Go to frys.com and click on the banner in the upper right corner, and you can see the ad that features all those films and games, without prices, as fidodido mentioned in the previous post.

It's pretty cool that they show their full ads on their site now, including links to ads in the various newspapers. Just click on the banner in the upper right corner to see their ads at any given time.

It is sort of odd.

But the ad does specifically try and direct you to Pre-Order any of those titles. So, my guess is that the ad was posted for that reason. Remember that the ads become really crappy once Christmas shopping season starts and since the trend seems to be for retailers to start the Christmas season as early as October...this is probably Fry's trying to get a jump on the season.

Well, I didn't notice that they all were preorders, so it makes a tiny bit more sense now. They're saying "hey, don't forget to check our preorder prices online for these titles". Maybe some people need to be reminded of what's coming out, but I don't. I didn't realize this preorder ad actually wasn't part of the San Jose printed ad but just an online thing.

It's good to know Fry's finally has ad scans online because I'm getting closer and closer to canceling my newspaper subscription as more and more retailers are dropping printed ads. I just tried out the Frys.com ad and it didn't ask for my zip code. So, how does Frys.com know if it should show the (almost always better) San Jose version or one of the crappier ads for other locations?

Maybe they're moving away from having different ads in different cities and are therefore showing a non-localized print ad. Not sure.

But, if you "Like" their Facebook page and click on the Newspaper Ad tab, they have links to the ads from each paper. Pretty nice.
