I'm pretty sure that won't happen!

I too ordered from DD since they gave me $10 off my anything on my wish list (note to self, add more titles to wish list!) hopefully there won't be any problems...

I was hoping there would be some good deals on some 3D Blu-rays, but it sure doesn't look like it.

You.

And me.

And them.

And now we aren't happy unless someone sells some blockbuster or obscure Criterion-level movie release, new & sealed, for like $1. We've become spoiled bitchy twats. And by "we," I mean "ya'll."

First time ever I'll be passing up on their "sale" as they've lost a customer in me for good. Just an awful place with bad customer service.

Funny...I remember the excitement the anticipation of this sales used to warrant...now, no one gives a fuck.

They were, but remembering how much I used to spend at DD makes me a bit sad. While there were some killers deals for the time, it seems like every DVD eventually hits $3 or less if you wait long enough.

Except for boxsets, I think I should have waited for at least half of my single movie purchases.

Re: DD 25% Off Sale 6/2-6/19

My wife and I both have DD accounts and I used both to apply the recent $10 off coupons--not bad deals on a couple of fave TV shows. But the 25% off sale looks dubious to me because of the generally high starting prices on DD. 25% off an inflated price, after all, is no deal. There might be the odd good deal in there, but I'd be surprised if I spent anything like what I used to during these sales. Those old sales really were great and I miss them.

I might dig up the old threads from 2004 & 2005 to relive the enthusiasm of the sales in their heyday.

And to laugh at all the people posting excitedly about getting a deal on things that would end up being found in the $3 bin at Big Lots 4 years later.

Just noticed dvdplanet's prices all went up. Guess they're getting ready for the "big sale" too...

I thought Planet no longer mirrored DD's sales. It's been a couple of years since I remember them having any kind of actual sale at all. If DD has gone downhill, Planet has disappeared completely.

I had orders from them last June, so I think that was their last 20 or 25% off sale. I actually still have credit left over there, so I hope they do have the sale.

Re: DD 25% Off Sale 6/2-6/19

That order I placed with the $10 coupon last week just came in today.

Unfortunately they are still sending single disc orders out slapped in between two sticky sheets of plastic wrapping. The shift from single cardboard boxes to plastic trays in plastic wrapping was bad enough- but this is why I finally let them go last year. With the ubiquity of flimsy eco cases now, unsupported/insubstantial packing like this is not appreciated.

Re: DD 25% Off Sale 6/2-6/19

Had a small wishlist I created last week (when I 1st heard the sale was coming) for 3 items totaling around $61. Just checked it today and it's now $76. The Matrix Blu ray trilogy set was $45 last week, now it's $57 and another DVD went from $4 up to $7 (even with 25% off of the new price it would still have been cheaper last week). Oh well, guess I'll just save my money.

A dvd I had no interest in buying, went up in price because my eyes happened to glance at it in passing.

My neighbor asked me who sang "Barton Hollow" and no sooner had the words "The Civil Wars" escaped my lips...and the price shot up.

Then again, you'll also find DVDs that people were questioning paying $6-10 for that are now OOP and cost 2-10x as much used on the secondary market.

Re: DD 25% Off Sale 6/2-6/19

Why is the idea that something dropped in price 4 years later that laughable? I mean, yeah, of course a DVD is more expensive when it comes out than several years later - that's just the way things go (see also: books, video/computer games, media players, etc.). They also got to enjoy it 4 years earlier...

I amazed in general with the prices they have. Sure some are good deals but a lot of them are way high and hard to believe anyone buys from them. I will check it out but like everyone else clearly not expecting much.

Maybe, but I wouldn't be suprised if some of those same DVDs were still in shrinkwrap 4 years later the way some people buy!

If nothing else, these sales ramp up the hyperbole!

Gypo66: When did you have time to check ALL the dvdplanet's prices????

CmC918: According to dvdpricesearch, there are 12,472 titles priced lowest at DeepDiscount.

Having said that, there's no question that these sales aren't nearly as rewarding as they were a few years ago.

Yeah, I used to have so much fun reading the threads from this sale.

I'll check out a few titles for sure, but have my expectations in check.
