For those who may not already know, just be aware that there are issues with playback on the Legacy sets. Check Amazon reviews for details on each set.

They are double-sided discs and those do tend to be troublesome for some players. So far, I've had luck with my players.

I own all the Legacy collections, & have had no issues at all on several inexpensive players.

And I had nothing but problems with the FRANKENSTEIN and DRACULA sets on an expensive Panasonic Blu player and an inexpensive Philips player. I finally bought the individual titles for a cheap price and don't bother with the double sided Legacy titles anymore.

Never had a problem either with my dvd or blu ray player.

Either way, thanks for the heads up I can pick up Invisible Man finally.

Edit- shipping kills it for me. Thanks anyways.

True. The Wolfman set doesn't playback at all on both my Sony BD player, Toshiba HD DVD player and skips and stutters a lot on my inexpensive Philips DVD player

It seems the problem is with BD players and crap DVD players. Never had a problem with any of the sets on Sony DVD player or computer drive.

I don't own a Blu. Do they tend to have problems in general with double sided dvd's? This is a serious question as I'm deciding whether to buy an expensive Oppo BDP-95, & I really want ONE player to play everything.

I have a LG player, paid about $100 for it and it has never had a problem with these Legacy sets or any other double sided disc.

Sorry, I frequently post on a music board where something is badly wrong when we don't drift off topic!

Thanks! I had been waiting for quite a while for a decent price on the Universal Legacy Series discs (the ones with all the special features).

Anyone have any promo codes? :D

I tried a number of codes and the only one that worked with media is the free shipping over $50 code. If you want t-shirts or bobbleheads I can give you a code that should work.

What's the free shipping code? I couldn't even get THAT to work.

It's in the first post and it's still working for me.

Been wanting to get these for some time. Guess this is a decent price. It could go lower, or not. THe newer releases may have had slightly improved image quality and lots more extras, but the sequels are not part of the newer releases. And aren't some features repeated on the new releases?

Ah, Kolchak the Night Stalker. One of my favorite comedies from the 70's right there with Three's Company (though I think Carl Kolchak may have tripped a little more than Jack Tripper). I remember staying up until midnight to watch Kolchak as a kid, and how upset I was if I fell asleep and missed it.

If I'm not mistaken, I think it and others of these sets contain the dread DVD-18s which had rumors of playback issues for some people.

$4.95 shipping if you just order Kolchak... I'll keep waiting for a better price since I still have my old VHS tapes of it and I watched it so much when I was young I'm not in the mood yet.

Kolchak: Kol…worth. Carl Kolworth.
Auctioneer: Any relation to the Woolworths?
Kolchak: Distantly, yes. They dealt in wool. We dealt in coal.

In my system, the newest Dracula (75th anniversary) actually had a much worse picture then the Legacy. Lots of video noise in the dark sequences. Though it did have improved audio. At least one professional reviewer agreed with me at the time.

I've heard this from more than a couple sources. The extras are worth it to get the anniversary Legacy editions, but the sequels are worth getting the collection sets.

Hated that I spent so much, but I just wanted to be done with collecting these, so I got;

Creature from the Black Lagoon- The Legacy Collection
Dracula- 75th Anniversary Edition, Universal Legacy Series
Frankenstein- 75th Anniversary Edition, Universal Legacy Series
The Mummy- Special Edition, Universal Legacy Series
The Wolfman- Special Edition, Universal Legacy Series.

I had the Legacy Collections of Dracula, Frankenstein, The Wolfman, and The Invisible Man already, was just missing Creature, and I ended up getting the entire Legacy Series, so I'm done with Universal for the foreseeable future, but with my luck they'll release blu's soon that combine the two.... :P

Dracula was the only one of the 75th's I bothered with, I got it for the documentary.
