I actually got that one too but I wanted Cross my heart which was cheaper than on its own.

Depends on how many discs there are. Usually varies - with Lions Gate 4 movie collections, for instance, most have their own discs, but a few are flip discs or singles with two movies on each (leading to reduction in visual/audio quality).
I'm more concerned about them being widescreen - anyone have the skinny on this? (I don't believe 'Fierce Creatures' was ever released WS - its aspect ratio is 2.35 - but I know the others have been.) If they're not, I'm not biting.

I assume the pack with Fierce Creatures still has an evil pan & scan presentation. I'd buy Fierce Creates in widescreen for $4.99 all by itself, but AFAIK they never released it in widescreen (except on laserdisc which I still have). As unpopular as it was, it's my favorite John Cleese after Fawlty Towers and Monty Python, and I like it more than A Fish Called Wanda.

From what I read, the War collection and horror are in the same aspect ratios as their stand alone DVDs.

Just returned from local Best Buy, where I looked for these sets, with no luck - until I noticed a small bucket over in an empty corner, itself only half filled with $4.99 titles ('Dirty Rotten Scoundrels', 'His Name is Jason' 2-disc, Chuck Norris 3-pack with 'Lone Wolf McQuade' in the mix), including one copy of each of the above 4 packs. ALL have original aspect ratios, EXCEPT 'Fierce Creatures'. Procured it anyway, for other three titles (fine 'I worked hard all day, it's 1am and I'm too tired to watch Antonioni so I'll watch this' movies, all of them). Also grabbed Horror pack (all are 1.85, except for 'Funhouse', which is 2.35). Each 4 pack contains two discs, no flippers. Will pop one in when time allows and report back later, if anyone's interested.

Dang, it figures the one that caught my eye wasn't in the $4.99 price range. The "Friday" 4-film would be something that I'd pick up for that price but for some reason, don't feel like dropping 9.99 on.

What it's worth, I've seen that 'Friday' set (as well as 5 or 6 other '4 Movie Favorites' sets) at various places in NYC (including a grocery store) for $4.99. Cutout slash jobs, though. But still. Bound to show up at Marshall's or TJ Maxx at some point soon, if it's not already in their mix.

According to this post, there is a chance that Fierce Creatures might actually be widescreen on the disc (they didn't say anamorphic or not). If you do watch it soon, additional confirmation would be appreciated.

Yes, please pop Fierce Creatures in your player soon even if it's only to watch a few minutes of the movie. It should be a 2.35:1 aspect ratio like Panavision. If it's a stealth widescreen transfer, then I'll try to get this 4-pack provided it's still $4.99 and not OOS everywhere.

Usually pop these 3/4 packs in to check out ratios and pic quality anyway. So back of the box says 'Fierce' is FS, but DVD inside said 2.35, which it is indeed, FINALLY. You all happy as I am? =]
Pic quality just ok, but sound is 5.1 (2.0 for 'Cross My Heart'). Zero extras or menus, but for 'choose your movie'.

Any chance you can check whether or not it is anamorphic? I'm presuming it must be but it would be nice to know for sure if it is no trouble.

this seems like the hunt for the WS of 'Sheena' from a few years ago...a lousy transfer but very rare to find. am glad I kept one cos there's none to be had now.

Can anyone tell me if the trailers are on these? I am looking at the War and Western sets and the individual releases for those all had trailers, so I was wondering if they were retained on these four packs? Thanks.

Bought the Cult Horror and Black Comedy ones and those are just the movies, so I wouldn't hold my breath.
