DuckTales, Darkwing Duck, Tale Spin, Chip N Dale - $8.99 @ Costco

I saw that Costco has a bunch of Disney cartoons for $8.99 per volume.

I picked up DuckTales (Volumes 1-3), Darkwing Duck (Volumes 1-2), and Tale Spin (Volume 1-2). They also had Chip 'N Dale's Rescue Rangers Volumes 1 & 2. Pretty good price considering Amazon has them for $15.49+ right now.

It's such a shame Disney didn't finish these sets. T_T

Nope, it appears as if Disney had one more volume planned to wrap up the series. I love Disney but with one more volume to go and they abandon it, that stuff really irritates me.

The worst part is that they only need one more set for each show, although Darkwing Duck would probably need two.

IIRC, there are 25 DuckTales episodes left unreleased (a real shame since many of those were childhood favorites of mine... the ones with Gizmoduck!), 37 episodes of Darkwing left, and around 13-16 episodes each of Chip & Dale and TaleSpin.

Great deal at Cosco, I felt the $12.99/each I paid at Best Buy a week or so ago was a pretty good deal for the amount of content you get. Really hope Disney releases the rest someday!

BTW, has anyone ever seen the Gummi Bears set go on sale? Its one of the only Disney Afternoon DVDs I haven't got around to buying yet, but don't think I have ever seen it for less than $20.

Since they came out around the same time... did WB ever finish their Animaniacs, Pinky & The Brain, Tiny Toon Adventures, and Freakazoid sets?

Freakazoid was the only title that's been completed. I'm still dying for Tiny Toons to be finished up the most out of all those titles although I wish they would just complete them all already.

They finished Freakazoid and Pinky & the Brain (unless you count Pinky, Elmyra & the Brain, which isn't on DVD). Animaniacs has 24 unreleased episodes and Tiny Toon Adventures has 33 unreleased episodes.

So is this a case where they just won't finish the series, or will they release some complete set sometime down the line which will make me feel like I wasted money on even the discounted earlier sets? Just wondering what the history is on stuff like this...

As far as we've seen, Disney doesn't have any interest at all in releasing more box sets of their earlier animated series. So you're pretty safe in picking up these box sets. It's doubtful we'll ever see them finished unless Disney decides to do print on demand.
