Oh and just FYI guys, we have the Ford at Fox set (1836897) at $39.95 now, and the Elia Kazan set (1839101) is now $19.95.

Now you owe me $20 in refund from a year ago on the two sets :-)....Just kidding, phenomenal pricing on two fantastic sets. Just out of curiosity, how many of those F@F sets did Fox produce ? The set can bring a shelf down by virtue of its weight

If the order is very recent (usually a month or so) we will sometimes honor refunds like that larkin. Sometimes the price has gotta be cut!

I don't know how many Fox produced but when they were sold off I took a swing at EVERYTHING that was left, and got about 3000 copies. I'm down to less than a 1/3 of that. If it wasn't so DAMN heavy I would have sold it far cheaper to begin with! I very rarely have to consider weight in pricing but with this one it was not a choice.

I had to take all the discs out of my Ford set and put in regular multi-disc cases so I wouldn't have to lug that book around. I seem to recall that it was not very easy removing discs from that book either.

I kinda wish I hadn't already gotten it, so I could buy it now and see all those films for the first time again. Jack Pennick is now one of my favorite character actors, as well as being a forerunner of J. Lee Ermey and Dale Dye as military advisors/actors.

Thanks for the quick updates, always appreciate your participation in this forum - can speak for many of us collectors that have benefited from your updates. Am spreading the word on those sets to a bunch of friends, hopefully you will secure some business from them. In the meantime, am putting in a $125 order from the catalog. Thanks and have a great weekend

Are you serious? I ordered DOG SOLDERS on April 14th at $14.95, and it was cut down to $9.95 not terribly long afterwards.

THE DEATHMASTER / TEENAGE EXORCIST: The Robert Quarry Collection ordered at $3.95 on 5/13 and was cut to $1.95 right afterward.

Re: Hamilton Books

A lot depends on how many times you have asked and the time period. We do run into people who use our refund policy vs. price drops as an investment program. That is, they check prices of stuff on their shelf regularly and ask for refunds on anything the price is lower on--sometimes their original order is almost a year old. :/

Re: Hamilton Books

GW, can you explain what the the blue star in front of some of the titles in your catalog means. It says that titles with a blue star are "current titles". What are the titles that don't have a blue star?

Sure! Why Ed decided to call it "current" I'll never know--on the book side the star simply means they are frontlist/backlist books, currently in print, bought directly from the Publisher/distributor. There is NO remainder mark. So they're not overstocks or liquidations (hence why the * titles are almost always more expensive!).

We translated that terminology over to the DVDs as well as the frontline/overstock model is pretty much the same for the movie industry.

Thing is, just because it DOESN'T have a star (meaning it is OS/liquidation product) doesn't mean it WILL have a remainder mark. Because some studios/publishers are MUCH more strict about this than others we always err on the side of caution and don't * anything we aren't sure about. We also can't check just the first OS batch for marks and determine it's clean (which I know many people care about and I would love to tell them about that) as the next batch MAY have marks.

Many companies care much less about remainder marks than they used too. But the bigger the studio, the more likely there are to be marks/stickers/cuts on non-starred titles, to protect them from unauthorized returns. The majors, you should assume they're marked. Guys like Kino or Code Red or Image or CAV? Not so much.

We'd change it to "new" vs. "overstock/liquidation" to be more accurate but when you say "new" some people inevitably assume the opposite is "used" and we fought that perception for many years (we never sell used anything! but people thought we did!)

Re: Hamilton Books

Oh and....for you guys I am happy to go check for remainder marks if you really care (and you can wait a few days). But even then it's iffy...one 30pk case won't have them, the next 30pk case in the stack does. Both cases from one studio order. It's frustrating.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but one company to definitely expect remainder marks from: MPI (including Dark Sky & IFC Films). I just bought a "brand new" DVD copy of Berberian Sound Studio from a 3rd party seller on Amazon. Slashed.

Paramount & Warner tend to slash their stuff too, I think.
Sony/Columbia: Never received their stuff slashed. I also think I've gotten lucky with Image Entertainment, Something Weird, MGM/Fox.

Every Synapse & Code Red I've bought from you has been pristine. Same with Scorpion, Severin, Shout Factory.

Re: Hamilton Books

MPI I rarely see as OS, but in my experience, they are slashed.

The smaller the companies are, the less likely they are to see it as worth their time. For example Synapse is two guys, Code Red basically one, they don't have time for such things.

Re: Hamilton Books

Just posting that I made a nice largish purchase tonight. I know this is in the dvd section but Hamilton has a lot of cult movies on BD right now at some great prices from Arrow, Kino, etc.

Did the Steve Martin set have scratched Barcode. Would use it for gifts if it didn't.

Re: Hamilton Books

It would appear that GW added dozens of Code Red DVDs. Some actual horror titles this time around!

$7.95 DVDs include:
Ghostkeeper
Julie Darling
Just Before Dawn
Mardi Gras Massacre
Retribution
The Possessed / Demon Witch Child

Related sublabels:
Muhair / Housewives Report
Probability Zero / Sullivan's Marauders
Blood Mania / Land of the Minotaur (CROWN)
Terror Circus / Schoolgirls in Chains

A few new Scorpions as well.

Some good deals on Vinegar Syndrome BDs as well.

Re: Hamilton Books

Guys I am sorry to have been such a stranger to the thread...time has really gotten away from me this year.

I just wanted to point out that we have removed the .40 per item charge on the website. Shipping is now a flat $4 no matter how much you order.
