Picked this up to replace the scratched up Twin Peaks sets I had; can't wait to rewatch it again :D

Thanks - I finally caved at this price. With that, I'm sure a Criterion Blu-ray announcement is just around the corner. ;)

I've heard a lot of good things about this so I think I'll bite. Wondering if I should pick up the movie along with it or wait to see if a Blu-ray release is announced.

I got the set at $45, thinking that it will be the cheapest.

Thanks for the head's-up! This has been on my Wish List, and I was waiting for it to drop back down to the $45 range. The $35 range is even better!

Nah, the cheapest price will be after I buy this... maybe $6 at Big Lots?

That said, I have the original Artisan S1 set (I paid more for it when it was released than this complete set costs... back before I had learned my lesson) and the Paramount S2 set ($6 at Big Lots). Having both sets makes it hard to spring for this collection for another $36. My understanding is this set has an improved transfer for the S1 episodes, some new extras (while missing others), and it includes the pilot episode. I guess 1 additional extra (not important to most people) is the Artisan S1 set did not include Spanish subtitles. I can't think of any other differences.

Being a Gold Box deal, this should be available at this price all day, right? Has Amazon ever ended or increased the price on a Gold Box deal early?

It's a CBS/Paramount release. Been heavily rumored as well.

They won't ever raise the price during the day, but if they run out, they can decide to stop the deal and move on to something else. It happens.

I have this set and the Artisan S1. The reason that the Artisan set still commands a high after-market price is because of the DTS audio option which is highly regarded on that release (and I concur).

This set is nice and complete (with the pilot) and the transfers are well done. Enjoy.

The Artisan S1 still commands a high price even if it has been opened (years ago I opened it and watched 1 episode)? I guess I should dig out my old eBay password (I haven't used eBay for years) to see what they've been selling for lately. If the used price would almost cover this set (even $30 net), then it would be a no brainer. I can live without DTS.

Either THIS or "Thriller Complete Series" for my best purchase of the year.

I got it for a few bucks more, but the fact that I got to see this over a year ago, is worth it.

I received mine today. When it comes to the packaging of this set, is anyone else having a problem getting the inner box (the part of the packaging that actually holds the discs) to slide out of the outer box? Mine is wedged in there extremely tight.

Got mine today too. Haven't opened it yet, but I am not surprised there might be packaging challenges - seems like more and more releases have them. Not necessarily problems or defects, just design choices that don't have usability/accessibility as the main goal.

Hoping this is worth a blind buy, I never caught the show when it was on.

The video quality is very good for a dvd release. I'm happy with having previously purchased this set for about the same amount. Hope this helps!

About to start watching this. Is there a big difference between the US and international pilots? If they're 90 percent the same, I won't watch both of them - which is suggested/preferred?

Re: Twin Peaks - The Definitive Gold Box Edition- $35.99 Amazon DOTD 12/28

^ Don't watch the international pilot until you are done with the entire series. The endings are completely different, as the international pilot was designed as a stand-alone film and tries to wrap-up the mystery by the end.

Excellent advice from Joe_B!

DO NOT watch the international pilot, unless you want to completely ruin the mystery of "Who Killed Laura Palmer"!!!
