Pearl Street Tacoma Wa told me nothing today, although they are under the impression that new pallets @ $5 & $6 are coming fairly soon.

Re: Big Lots Part 9 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

I wonder if anyone agrees with me that this is a semi-golden age for DVD's at BL? I remember the frenzy about three years ago - complete TV seasons for $6! Even for $3! I remember holding in my hands the seasons of Tales from the Crypt (at $3 per), then putting them back because I was already overloaded with Flinstones, Lois and Clark, etc.

And later, I recall people wishing for the time when they could find Criterion DVD's at BL, or Disney DVD's. Well, surprisingly, here we are again - TV seasons for $6, even for $3! OK they may not be to your taste but they are there. And Disney - they're there too (again perhaps not everyone's first choices but did anyone really believe Snow White or Little Nemo would end up in BL?). And finally, Criterion DVD's (well, actually only ONE Criterion DVD, but still). Plus, just about any mainstream movie usually finally shows up at BL, perhaps initially at $5 but then eventually they show up again at $3.

So is this a semi-golden age? Any comments?

It will never be like it was three years ago, unless another distributor or wholesaler decides to rip Warner off again. That was the craziest, biggest DVD bonanza in the history of the format.

Re: Big Lots Part 9 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

I found a bunch of new 2 packs for $3. I got:

Boogeyman/Boogeyman 2
The Pink Panther (2006)/Fun with Dick and Jane (2005)
Stealth/Blue Thunder
The Blue Lagoon /Return to the Blue Lagoon
The Forgotten/Gattaca
The Grudge/The Grudge 2
Samantha Who?: The Complete Second Season (no season 1 )

I also saw ($3 each):
Hollow Man / Hollow Man 2
Stomp the Yard w/CD soundtrack
The Da Vinci Code w/ bonus Making of the Da Vinci Code DVD
Bewitched/first three Bewitched episodes

EDIT: Just noticed that Gattaca is full screen. Guess I'll be returning it. Return to the Blue Lagoon is also full screen, but that's the only version that's available in the US.

Is there anything new at Puyallup the last week or less? I was last there the Saturday night of the sale. It's a long drive for me.

Thanks! One of The reasons they asked is last Saturday they only had one Blue Lagoon & I grabbed it, so they must have gotten more.

You can't beat those Puyallup Big Lots updates if only because it's one of the sillier town names I've seen in the BL circuit. How long til we get to see CSI PUYALLUP?

Re: Big Lots Part 9 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Puyallup is a really weird place. (the name is Native American). 10 years ago it was the STICKS. I almost bought a house there, as they were selling brand new homes for under $150k in the middle of the housing boom (I'm very glad i didn't).

Now it has has grown like Jack in the Beanstalk, has what's likely the 2nd worst traffic in Western Wa (after Seattle), & it appears that of the 15 or so BL's in Western Wa, it seems to get 2-4x the dvd's anyone else does!

And between the traffic & relatively long drive I really appreciate the updates, as i don't even want to think about driving there unless I have a really good reason!

Re: Big Lots Part 9 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Went to the Franklin, Mass. location yesterday and found some different titles I don't remember anyone mentioning before. Waterhole #3, Vampires: The Turning and Sparkle, all priced at $3. I bought the one and only copy of Waterhole #3, they had a few of the other two titles.

Then hit the Raynham, Mass. store and found the Firestarter Two Movie Collection for $5.

Re: Big Lots Part 9 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

I have seen a fair number of OOP Paramount titles at that new store in Fayetteville Ga, such as Brother Son, Sister Moon, Cousins(US version) All Night Long (Barbra Streisand) Hud, etc..

Also, the $3.00 are only ringing up at $3.00 there, no matter how many I buy...

So all that stuff that was supposed to be destroyed a few years ago...ended up at BL? Is that what you are referring to?

GI Joe: Rise of Cobra 2-Disc Digital Copy Edition $4.00
John Wayne Triple Feature: The Telegraph Trail/Somewhere in Sonora/The Man From Monterrey $4.00

Donald in Mathmagic Land $2.50

Is the sequel to When time ran out, The land that time forgot? I think they made three or four of these type of movies, really bad special effects.

Re: Big Lots Part 9 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Found THE GRUDGE 2 steelbook for $3 yesterday.

The dvd's are beginning to pile up with lots and lots of copies of only a few titles at the Idaho Falls Big Lots, I hope this doesn't keep them from putting out more....
