Re: Big Lots Part 9 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Nobody on this thread seems to care about the Culver City, CA Big Lots, but just in case someone out there was thinking about going, I hit it up this last Saturday and can report:

Plenty of the BRANDO and COOPER sets; S1 of CRANK YANKERS; the Gary Cooper/DeMille western THE PLAINSMAN; DELIVERANCE; BLADE Complete Series; THE BIG RED ONE 2 disc set, WATCHMEN, both the movie and the motion comic, etc. Pretty much what has been reported in recent finds across the country, though not everything.

Sorry I can't be more specific, but as usual I was so underwhelmed, I barely made a note of anything.

Re: Big Lots Part 9 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

I just bought a few of those used sets (Six Feet Under s3, The Riches s1) and the disks in them are actually all in great shape. Don't know if they're all as good, but it gives me hope.

The weirdest thing about them is that each individual disc came from a different Hollywood Video/Movie Gallery. BL had a copy of Nip/Tuck s1 where the spines were from 3 different sets. Don't know why they did that. Just seems like so much unnecessary work.

Hollywood Video still had a bunch of DVDs in storage leading into the last days of the store closings. I worked at one till the last week of the company and they were still shipping us "like new" rentals that were in some warehouse somewhere. Willing to bet that a lot of these sets were sold in bulk to some liquidation company for pennies a disc.

On topic, picked up Comedy Central's TV Funhouse: The Complete Series for $3 at the Moreno Valley, CA store. Also almost picked up the Watchmen Motion Comic for $5 and Otis for $3 but I'm reallly broke till Fri.

Picked up Away We Go & Drowning Mona (both of which were very bad blind buys as they sucked heartily) and a few Strangers With Candy S3s to give to friends. Also found some otherwise unavailable Pumpkin Pie Pop-Tarts, a serious guilty pleasure.

I saw the $6 rental TV show DVDs. I saw Dollhouse S1, Alias S2, various seasons of The Shield, Smallville, Roswell and many others.

Also saw the new $3 batch that included Wonder Woman (2009 animated), World According to Garp, Loonatics Unleashed S1, Otis, Blades of Glory, various Comedy Central shows, and others I can't remember.

At the Niles, IL store today regarding those new $6 TV titles...they were all shrink-wrapped as one wholke season, even though they come in separate cases and they'll have a sticker listed as previously viewed features and spotted at this locale were Lost S4, the L Word S1 and 2, Earl S1, Entourage S2, Closer S3, Buffy S7 and they also had that Andy Milonakis Show S1 and S2 as well.

Re: Big Lots Part 9 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

i got Lost S1, Boston Legal S1 and Simpsons S5. Boston legal was pristine - didn't looked like it was played. Haven't opened up Simpsons yet, but the package looked mint.

Lost? ugh.. Looks like people used the discs for air hockey! But so far everything plays. The store didn't have another S1 set, and I am not interested enough in the show to pay more than $6, so will probably keep it and hope every episode plays...

But quite a difference in quality of the discs!

Picked up Bones: Season 1 at the Big Lots in Marshall, Texas. They had a few of the Lost seasons, Entourage, Six Feet Under, American Dad, Prison Break, Murder One, and a few others.

I took a look at the Bones discs, and only one of them looked in pretty rough shape. Hopefully it won't have any problems.

Re: Big Lots Part 9 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Make sure you check all of the discs if you buy those TV shows. I bought Prison Break s2 on Thursday and when I went to go through it all today, I found that disc six was missing. Luckily I still had all the shrink wrap and everything so they let me exchange it, but definitely make sure everything's there when you buy it.

Picked up one previously viewed series - Z ROCK Season 1 as a blind buy. Discs were pristine and series is better than I expected.
