Re: Big Lots Part 9 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

I just hit up the Colonie, NY store & grabbed:

The Adventures Of Chico & Guapo: The Complete First Season Unrated
The Brown Bunny
Steven King Presents Kingdom Hospital: Making The Rounds
Upright Citizens Brigade The Complete First Season
Wildboyz The Complete First Season

All $3 each. They had a few left of each of the above except for The Brown Bunny, which was the sole copy. They also had The Andy Milonakis Show S1 & S2, Drawn Together S2, Fear Factor S1, My Super Sweet 16 S1 & 2 (ugh), Big Top Pee-Wee, The Devil's Chair, The Honeymooners, Lean On Me, The Man Who Loved Women & some others. The newer assortment can be found on the wire racks, for anyone headed there.

Right on! Im glad you found a copy. Malcolm X is a good film can't beat the $3 dollar price. I havent seen Wonder Boys or You Can Count On Me though. But Im guessing they are decent films since many people in this forum have been picking them up. I will probably be heading to a couple of big lot stores this weekend hopefully they have some new dvd's.

Big Sale! 100's of new DVDs!

Crap...

Went to the local BigLots earlier, sure they had a few DVDs they hadn't had before but certainly not 100's and certainly nothing I don't already have and/or anything I have any interest in. Dammit. -kd5-

I actually came up with one copy of Affair in Trinidad at another store.

I guess to complete the Sony Martini series I need Gumshoe, New Centurians, Garment Jungle and Vibes and Dollars, Our man in havana. I just found four others, Buttercup chain, Love & Pain & The Whole Damn Thing, Model Shop, and The Pursuit of Happiness, on Amazon.

I found at Big Lots: Five, Affair in trinidad, getting straight, Anderson tapes, Summertree (Michael Douglas) Are there others that I am missing?

I saw a stack of Samsung Blu-ray players for $89.99 by the register at one store.... however, all the boxes have a big stamp on them that says "refurbished".

Same here. Went to three stores found dozens of copies of White Noise 2, dozens of copies of Leprechaun, and dozens of copies of The One. Other than that not a heck of a lot other than the same stuff that been sitting there. Will check one store Sunday maybe they are holding stock back, but I'm doubting it.

Re: Big Lots Part 9 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Wend to a different BL and they had a lot of different movies than my regular one. Some new ones I saw that haven't been mentioned lately (or at all).

The Natural DC
My Side of the Mountain
If Only
Avalon
The Strange One

ALL three copies of 1900 had floaters. I grabbed one, but may not keep it. 5Ive looks pretty damn good.

Re: Big Lots Part 9 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

All the copies of 1900 at my Big Lots were floaters too. I picked one up anyway, and it was really scuffed up, but I ran it through CD Check and it doesn't seem to have any problems.

There is a defect with the cases for 1900. I bought a copy from bn.com a year ago and it was a floater.

I got my 1900 in Troy NY..I did shake every 1900 until I found a good one...in fact, I shake everything. I've put back several movies I really , really wanted because they were obvious floaters.

Re: Big Lots Part 9 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Westheimer store in West Houston had a fairly good supply of newly mentioned titles - tho' not all.

Picked up -

Avalon
Black Dahlia
Brown Bunny (10+ copies there)
Who Killed the Electric Car? (Funny these type of cars are coming back now - when "no one wanted them back then" - at least according to manufacturers)
Frost/Nixon
Lipstick Jungle S1
Running Mates

10+ cardboard trays worth overall - some old stock, quite a bit of the newer titles.

Re: Big Lots Part 9 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Was wondering if anyone has seen any copies of Don't Look Now?
And also if anyone knows which Fade To Black they are talking about?
(I'm hoping it's the early 80's horror movie........but there are at least
four different movies/documentary with the same name over the years)

Eh, I really miss the days when a new shipment had some truly classic films. By and large, I find the new stuff my Big Lots gets in is mostly crap.

Pearl St Tacoma, WA got a small batch of Anchor Bay/MGM/Lion's Gate. 30 titles or so. Mostly very weak titles imo. Highlights:
Ninth Gate
Farce of The Penguins
Roadie
another Pair Of Aces

Re: Big Lots Part 9 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Went to the Riverdale Ga store last friday....man, I don't know if they had even 100 discs total! Now, someone that worked there said that the 4 sided fixture was pretty full a few days back, I kind of doubt it, since it was nearly empty the last time I was there a few weeks back. If they sold that well, they would have tables for DVD's as well...
Went to the Fayetteville store last night and they had a lot more timeless dvds, but just the 1 disc variety. Will give a bit more info, since I don't want anyone hollering at me , who didn't know much of their stuff is noted for being poor quality. Sitting Bull, Proud and the Damned, The Hanged Man (Steven Forrest/Dean Jagger/Will Geer/Sharon Acker/Cameron Mitchell) Against a Crooked Sky Starring Richard Boone, Treasure of Ruby Hills Zachary Scott, Lee Van Cleef (typical of these Timeless Media discs, you read the review, and the video, or in this case, the audio quality is supposedly terrible) San Francisco Story (grabbed it before, haven't watched yet) Gatling Gun, with Pat Buttram, John Carradine, Robert Fuller, Phil Harris, Judy Jordan(again a review saying sound is horrible) Restless Gun, a series with John Payne, but just disc one of a set...Bravos, with George Peppard, and Pernell Roberts...must be a later release cuz, they say the color and sound are excellent! Evil Roy Slade, which many here has said was pretty good...got a copy, but haven't watched yet. Winchester '73 John Drew Barrymore, Joan Blondell...Branded with Chuck Connors, I think 5 shows.
The Guns of Will Sonnett....claimed to be the first season, but it's just a best of the first season, 9 shows. The Invasion of Johnson County, no mention of DVD quality, but folks seem to like this one too...Riverboat, a sampler disc of the show that starred Burt Reynolds and Darrin McGavin, shoot, sounds like there were discs that didn't play...wonder if any of these will??? for $3, might be worth the risk to see if you want an entire season of the show. Lock Stock and Barrel, starring Claude Akins, Jack Albertson, John Beck, Neville Brand, Felicia Farr and many more. The Best of Laredo, Season One....well, that's all I took pictures of..(Note to self, don't take any more pictures! ).these were all $3, they have had for a couple of weeks some $5 sets, William Tell, Hippodrome, and two others that the name slips my mind...

Re: Big Lots Part 9 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Anybody have trouble with the Krull Special Edition disc? The snapper case lists a bunch of extra features that I could not find. All I could find was a making of documentary. Anybody else have this same issue? What did I miss on the menu? Thanks
