I wouldn't at all doubt that's the case at the BigLots around here. My local BigLots rarely ever has anything that I either don't already have or that others have mentioned should be widely available but aren't here. Wouldn't doubt the employees get first dibs (probably one of the perks of working there).
I haven't had much luck at BigLots lately, they need to get in some fresh batches and preferably the widescreen versions. Don't know why the media companies keep pumping out so many fullscreen movies in this age of widescreen TVs. -kd5- What really puzzles me though is the Rated editions for movies like teen comedies or more adult subject matter like Basic Instinct. If someone's looking for that sort of a movie then why in the world would they prefer the edition with less nudity, language, etc.? |

If someone's looking for that sort of a movie then why in the world would they prefer the edition with less nudity, language, etc.? Foolscreen versions seem to finally be going away- I think the last one to come out was one of the Tyler Perry movies. Again, those were meant to be on one disc so you wouldn't have to choose. "Fullscreen" was always a false term anyways, especially if you have a widescreen TV- you get to see the movie in the wrong ratio with black bars on the SIDES! |

The Idaho Falls Big Lots finally got the 'Grease' shipment. People were going through it like crazy but I did manage to pick up the following:
$5 Grease (both versions) Saturday Night Fever (with cover) $3 Rocky Balboa (widescreen finally) The Pursuit of Happiness Team America Journey to the Center of the Earth Black Sheep Snake of the Eagle's Shadow (Jackie Chan) Kidnapped (complete series) Face/Off Pretty In Pink (I Love the 80's) Escape From LA Casino Royale Up In Smoke |

If they only had a few TV shows as well on sale.

Re: Big Lots Part 9 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)
They had the Blu Rays in my store and they're nothing special at all. I wouldn't give $8 for any of them

Questions for Adam Gott... (and everyone else too)
http://thumbnails63.imagebam.com/157...f157335485.jpg "Escape From L.A." is that the first pressing? I'm looking to get that wraparound and insert. I have some clear DVD cases. I've been buying the re-release with new covers and puting both the old and new covers inside the case. The new on the outside, the old inside. Did it recently for the re-release of "Pleasantville". Anyhow, I have the new release of "Escape From L.A" and got rid of my older - which I now regret. That case had the insert. http://thumbnails42.imagebam.com/157...e157335506.jpg Is it this, "Journey To The Center Of The Earth"? And lastly, if rainbows could be tasted - would they taste like Skittles? |

Because that's the way they played in theaters- when forced to choose I always get the theatrical version, though they SHOULD include both versions on a disc and more movies are doing that now.

depending on the store, it could be my return :-) looked up the reviews trashing it and hence back it went. There's a general level of displeasure over Sony's Martini Movies and my blind buys haven't been kind.
I have bought 5 or so of the Martini Movies, I have only watched 1 so far but found it enjoyable Five (1951) |
Re: Big Lots Part 9 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)
Hopefully at least it means new titles............ & how can they call $2.88 'the lowest" when they just finished a $2.50 sale??!

Re: Big Lots Part 9 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)
Some of the newer titles listed above have finally shown up at the Waldorf Md store. Titles include Grease, Benjamin Button, and Lawreance of Arabia.

"Escape From L.A." is that the first pressing? I'm looking to get that wraparound and insert. As I recall, Escape from L.A. was a DVD-5 with almost no extras, so even though I like Kurt Russell and John Carpenter (and it was the first time I ever saw Steve Buscemi) I've been holding out hoping for a decent BD release rather than settling on a barebones DVD-5 for $3. Unfortunately the BD is barebones too (only the trailer) so my price point on the BD is $5 and $3 for the DVD is too high... unless the 2nd pressing is better? |

/\ The content is identical, but the covers are slightly different.

@surfinhank: You may only save $0.12 per DVD but that 12 cents adds up :) |

$2.88 is the lowest price they've had without having to buy in multiples of 4 or a rewards coupon.

At least in my state, it was a multiple of 2, not 4.
Bottom line, $2.88 is the lowest price it's ever been without having to buy in multiples of 2 or 4. :) |
Re: Big Lots Part 9 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)
I walked into Big Lots and as usual the 4 bins at the front of the store was the same old stuff. So I wondered around the store and right in the center aisle by the Christmas candy was two displays of DVDs. One was in a two sided cardboard display called Hollywood Hits (or Blockbusters). One on side was the $3 dvds and the other side was the $5 dvd's. I got the last copy of the Blade series for $5.
Also a one sided display of Christmas movies. I saw Scrooged. Both plain and one with a window slipcover. I got a dvd called Christmas Treats for $5 that has Christmas episodes of Beverly Hillbillies, Lucy Show, Petticoat Junction, Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, Mork & Mindy, Odd COuple, Cheers and Love, American Style. |

Re: Big Lots Part 9 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)
Went to the Diversey Avenue location in Chicago, IL today and they had a crapful of movie DVDs both in SD and BD versions and yes, the Twins Peaks S2, 7th Heaven S3 sets for ten bucks and a host of BD titles for 8 dollars but scatterd all around the place...didn't buy much but they had a number of movies available.

Haven't seen one like it since, only fullscreen/widescreen. Even though I don't have the capability to view 3D, I thought it would be novel to own this version. Used to be $5 at Biglots which I refused to pay, at $3 I bought it. -kd5- |
