I didn't get a chance to go hunting yesterday, but made it to 3 more stores today. First was the Slauson store, which was somewhat picked over, but I did see that they had a small Holiday display devoted to $8 Blu-Rays that Rexxriot mentioned above. The BR titles were mostly uninteresting imo, like 17 Again and Yes Man but maybe the selection might vary? The only other distinguishing thing about this store is that while all of the other BL I've seen have only had the single disc Wonder Woman 2009 Animated movie, this one had several copies of the 2-Disc version. In case anyone's looking for that.
I then went to the Downtown store on 7th Street, but was not thinking and forgot to bring cash to pay for parking. With only my debit card, I had fun searching for street parking, but eventually found something. And thankfully my car was still there when I came back for it. Anyway, I was also fortunate in that they still had 4-5 copies left of Ned & Stacey S1 (and Huff for anyone in the area who needs it). On the tower display I found the last copy of Kidnapped. Much thanks to Shawerma for the heads-up on this store and good luck to everyone else still looking for these.
Last for me was the Crenshaw and Manchester location. They had nothing not available elsewhere, except that they've marked down two (of several copies) of Twin Peaks S2 to $6. This seemed a good idea, as they look like they've sat awhile at $10.
After hitting so many BL I'm wondering if some of the store employees might be buying some of the better deals like the TV shows? I've seen that sometimes 1 out of 9 stores really can get something that the others won't, but still, I wouldn't be surprised if at least a few had employees who picked some of the better stuff out before it made it to the floor.

Picked up Huff and 'Ned and Stacey S1' at the Buena Park (SoCal) location. Plenty of Huff copies left, none of the other. Not many new titles there as well, a bit smallish update amidst tons of the same old titles.

My wife and I went to the BL in Hermitage, PA yesterday, they had a ton of DVDs, but nothing that I don't already have. There are a few for $5 but they're not DVDs I would pay more than $3 for, so I'll wait.
I haven't had much luck at BigLots lately, they need to get in some fresh batches and preferably the widescreen versions. Don't know why the media companies keep pumping out so many fullscreen movies in this age of widescreen TVs. -kd5-

Culver City, CA literally overflowing with DVDs, but close inspection reveals multiple upon multiple copies of the same titles. Just about everything that has recently been reported including the new $5 displays.
I bought the lone copy of the TEXAS/ARIZONA double and that's it.

I am confused (not an unusual state of mind for me). Has anyone else seen Gary Shandling DVD's and, if so, are they "It's Gary Shandling's Show" or is it "The Larry Sanders Show" and, if either, is it a highlights disc or is it complete seasons?

I wouldn't at all doubt that's the case at the BigLots around here. My local BigLots rarely ever has anything that I either don't already have or that others have mentioned should be widely available but aren't here. Wouldn't doubt the employees get first dibs (probably one of the perks of working there).

The Big Lot employees I've met don't seem too interested in buying DVDs. I think this forum is what happened to Big Lots' selection of DVDs. After the great WB selloff of 2009, resellers got wise to the deals and constantly buy up new DVD stock to put on Amazon and eBay. If the item doesn't sell in 30 days, they just return the item for a full refund. I've seen these people buy shopping carts full of DVDs before, only to return anything that doesn't sell 30 days later.

Treated poorly or not, they aren't losing money. And if you're buying shopping carts full of movies to resell do you really care how you're treated if you get your $ back?

Has anyone actually personally seen this occur (& I don't mean a return of 10 floaters)?

Re: Big Lots Part 9 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)
Tonight I finished a run of the BL stores in south-central PA, which I haven't done in a long while. Here are a few things that may not have been mentioned before:
Look, Up in the Sky!: The Amazing Story of Superman
SOS Coast Guard (Bela Lugosi serial)
Constantine 2xDVD Deluxe Edition (with comic book)
Spiderman 2.1 + Spiderman 3 teaser DVD
GI Joe: Resolute
I bought the Superman documentary, There Will Be Blood, and The Fifth Element. Wanted to buy Where The Wild Things Are, Starman, and Da Vinci Code but stopped when I realized that other editions have better extras. The only thing of interest I haven't found locally is the Virginia Woolf 2xDVD. Has anybody from the Philadelphia area seen it?

Re: Big Lots Part 9 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)
Apparently our local store called Liquidation World (which is what it sounds like) is turning into Big Lots. However, it's in a not-that-big city in Alberta, Canada.
Will our Big Lots be some crappy second rate Canadian version?
And do most of them actually have any of those items on the first page? Like Star Trek and Dexter for $10?

Saw the new $3/$5 display. Almost bought a few $5 titles but at that price I might as well jest go Blu. Did see a single copy of this that I snagged @ $3 though:

depending on the store, it could be my return :-) looked up the reviews trashing it and hence back it went. There's a general level of displeasure over Sony's Martini Movies and my blind buys haven't been kind.

Culver City has a few copies of LAWRENCE. I didn't see the other two there and STRANGERS is probably long gone as it hasn't been reported in quite awhile.

I personally have really liked most of the Martini movies. I rented all of them at netflix as they came out and enjoyed most of them. I have close to a complete collection from Big Lots.

Re: Big Lots Part 9 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)
Highly doubtful. Most of the items on the first page were limited availability - well acutally most of the items we talk about/post are limited availability. It's just that there seems to be a small percentage of titles that have/may receive a limited restock at some point. It's a total crap shoot.
