Mine did the same exact thing. I believe this is DHL's equivalent of Fedex's "Smart" Post. Ridiculous.

Yes and no. I did during the last sale, but I have not tried this time around.

Good for you. I did not have such luck and found the folks in the Clifton store on Rt. 3, for instance, to be a LOT friendlier and flexible about these things than the Livingston staff. I was able to use 2 at once in Clifton, but haven't tried again this sale.

Excellent. Should be a fun-filled night for the entire family.

Hope that dude likes it better than A.O. Scott of the NY Times:

"The scandal of 'Antichrist' is not that it is grisly or upsetting but that it is so ponderous, so conceptually thin and so dull."

Just brutal.

I liked it a lot. but I wouldn't buy it just because I couldn't watch it again. or not enough to merit buying it. mostly because of the "scene(s)"

I didn't necessarily hate it, but I've seen it once, I don't think I need to purchase it for repeat viewings - I'll more than likely rent the disc from Netflix to watch the supplments later on down the line.

Re: November Criterion Sale

Used another $5 coupon today and bought Revanche BD. Probably just pick up one more BD and buy Night of the Hunter next week.

I'm a huge Von Trier fan, and will probably get the Blu Ray for it, but it is one of his weaker films imo.

Re: November Criterion Sale

Just got House (Blu-Ray) and Black Orpheus (Blu-Ray). I'm waiting on the 2nd order I placed (Crumb, Paths Of Glory, and Thin Red Line, all on Blu), and will probably place at least one or two more orders before the sale ends.

I watched Revanche via Instant on Netflix some time ago. You reminding me about it has kinda moved it back to the forefront of the titles I planned to get...

I saw it in theaters and thought it was fantastic also. I hear the Von Trier commentary on the criterion is incredibly informative.

Re: November Criterion Sale

Went in and bought Antichrist this morning at the B&N a block from my house and they had 9 copies of blu & 9 copies on dvd.

Got denied on the coupon though. The manager told me because of the sale being 50% off corporate has decided to not allow coupons to be used on criterions while the sale is going on. He said they just got sent this info yesterday.

I'll probably get it, too. I suspect (at least for me) it may turn out a lot like my experience with Salo. I have to see it just to see what all the fuss is about, but then I may have to turn right around and sell it off afterwords.

If this is true I think I'm done buying then. All I really have left to buy was Night of the Hunter which I wouldve gotten for $14...

I would put up a fuss. The coupon is a form of contract expiring in late November. In effect, 'you come to my store and I'll offer you this discount subject to the fine print.' No where is there any language like 'all offers may be withdrawn without notice' or the like. Thus, a deal is a deal. Most managers should be able to get that concept.

Btw, if they say 'well the discounted price is under 20 dollars' ... ask them to get a calculator and display the math in dollars and cents (i.e. 2 digits past decimal). For example, 39.99 retail price discounted by 50 percent rounds to 20.00 not 19.99 on any calculator. Most should give up by that point and my guess is that most won't want to jerk a customer around for a penny difference anyway.

That's quite a stance from corporate if the manager was being truthful. Assuming it's true, no one should be surprised. This is how retailers react when consumers try to game their promotions and policies.

wait and see really. this could easily be bullsh!t from a manager. how many times have we seen people in this thread denied by managers saying that "corporate said this was fake" etc..

No one should be surprised because they would just be following the same restrictions already imposed on their website. It has nothing to do with "consumers (trying) to game their promotions and policies".

I agree. We've seen dozens of BS excuses created whole-cloth by various clerks and managers attempting to deny these coupons. Worst case, YMMV continues to reign.

I'll just be bummed out if they deny me when I'm trying to use the coupon with full respect to its stated terms. I'm not trying to game anyone.
