Eh, all I know is what it said in their system. Now their system may be wrong, not up to date, or they may choose to change the dates and have not yet reflected it in the system. However, as of best current information, it seems the 21st it is as an end date.

Re: November Criterion Sale

So, no solid start date yet?
Looks like I'll be in DFW for the first week of November, so I'd hate to miss the sale by a couple days. B&N shipping to Canada is pricey, so I'd like to avoid it.

Re: November Criterion Sale

Went to Barnes and Noble earlier this morning to find out the date. A woman that worked there showed me a paper she received a few days ago that indicated the start/end date.

Pierrot Le Fou and A Woman is a Woman are both OOP so in the off chance you can find these snag them up.

And, if you can't track those down, I'd recommend the following BDs:

Charade
Black Narcissus
Breathless
Stagecoach

Just my two cents, but I bought Charade during the last sale (thinking I'd love it and planned to get blu this sale) but ended up hating it. After several Criterion purchases, Charade is the first film that truly disappointed.

I saw it as second rate Hitchcock. The humor just made me cringe and roll my eyes. I have loved Audrey Hepburn in every role I've seen her in, but somehow this film actually made her unlikeable and annoying...now that's saying something!

I just put a hold on Charade at my local library. I will watch it before the sale starts

I know there has been a bit of negativity towards Charade, but I find it to be a good, solid film and it'll be nice to finally have a strong transfer. I'm in the camp that says it's always good to rent/borrow films that you haven't seen. I might only blind-buy 2 or 3 films a year.

Historically, they have been.

Re: November Criterion Sale

I signed up for the membership during last November's sale; thought it would expire around the first week into the sale. Upon checking my account online it says my account will expire on Nov. 30th...so I'm in for a few more purchases and then will let it lapse until further notice (Sales!!).

Same situation...I don't have a B&N nearby...so, I can't take advantage of the in-store sales. Got the card when B&N were doing the online sales which benefited members. But since we have the third party B&N sites, my card also expires next month and will let it lapse.

I was just researching this very thing. Thought I had to buy all my Blus before the 3rd... nope, expiry on the 30th. Nice!

Re: November Criterion Sale

I guess the BBS Story will have to wait until next summer. I suppose that's a good thing, as I can't really afford it right now.

Nothing's definite until it happens. During the July sale we were guessing at the end date till it closed.

I've been trying to track different tidbits about sale date ranges in the first post and there are about 4 contradicting strong rumors.

Re: November Criterion Sale

I'm finally finishing up watching the Criterions that I purchased during the July sale.

I watched The Battle of Algiers last night for the first time. Wow. Although they are very different movies, I could see how Spielberg may have been influenced by it when he made Schindler's List.

Re: November Criterion Sale

Someone mentioned this on another site, and I thought it worth mentioning here:

B&N has a banner on their site for a free 2-month membership with an eligible purchase. If you've been a member before you can't do it (maybe a different email though?).

You add the free membership to your cart when buying something. I used a sub $2 book to get it.
