Gohastings.com and Hastings stores are having a 2 day sale. This includes everything used, books, cds, games, dvds. They have some pretty expensive megasets so you can probably score some massive savings with the boxsets.

I wish it was as good a sale as it sounds.

1) It doesn't include Blu-rays.

2) I added three DVDs to my cart and it didn't work on them.

It is only on "qualifying " titles, even though they say over and over again that it is for "ALL USED" in the banner ad and the email they sent me. Here is the link for the qualifying titles:

Yeah. you are right. In fact, the banner now just says USED when I could have sworn it said all USED earlier. It looks like there was a brief period this morning where you could have snagged any 3 boxsets. I did a mix and match of Home Improvement and Smallville, and it took one dollar off, but now it doesn't work.

It also says in small print "Excludes Blu-Ray" and "Offer valid on qualified used titles".

I went through several pages of listings, and there actually numerous boxsets at great prices! NCIS for one.

I was browsing the site around 2am this morning and that wasn't the case, they have run similar sales over the last few months and it seems like they always have the same titles not included.

Plus, their shipping prices have gone up again. I think it used to be 2.99 for the first title and a dollar for each after that, then they switched to like 2.29 per title and now when I added three titles today, it quoted me at more than 9 dollars shipping. My love for GoHastings is totally gone (especially considering my wish-list hasn't worked in 3 months).

I have a question about trying to exploit the B2G1 deal.

They won't combine my orders if I get something that is listed as 10/10/10 (getting the third for a dollar), and then put in a SEPARATE order for something else that were 5/5/5 dollars right?

I just want to get the most bang for my buck, and won't mind doing several separate orders to get the best deal.

Seriously. I used to order from them all the time (loved getting Disney DVDs & multi-disc sets for under 3 bucks) but this new shipping cost increase has made me turn to Amazon or a B&M store. I would like to do the latter more than anything else, but sometimes the prices at Amazon are cheaper.

The only problem I have with this sale is that I usually order Criterions and the $1 one I get seems it is usually the crappiest copy they can find to send me.

Ex:

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, no artwork, only slipcover, discs scratched

Kagemusha, Non Criterion Version (This is understandable I guess since they do send me the incorrect titles sometimes)

Naked Kiss, large sticker that encompasses half the spine and is impossible to remove without tearing the cover art.

Slacker, looks like a large sticker was removed and artwork is torn where it was.

I always call them and get my money back but I would rather just have a decent copy of the movie than my few dollars back.

It just seems like they want to get rid of their crap copies and refund a few dollars than 10-20 bucks.

0 for 2 on the Buy 2 Get 1 sales. Both times one of the dvds went out of stock and was canceled. At least this last time I played it smart and checked the inventory beforehand and made sure they had plenty of copies of the one that was marked down to $1. The first time they canceled the $1 item, this time they canceled a full price item. Worked out better for me, but I'm done with the B2G1 sales. I'll stick with the percentage off sales.

Heads up to anyone wanting to buy Hot Tub Time Machine (used). I was sent a rental exclusive copy that has zero extras. It even has the sticker on the disc from Family Video.
