Actually, it's $27.00 US shipped (see corrective posts below!), which still seems a very fair price for this well-rated (at Amazon, at least) collection of 11 films, including:

4. “A Canterbury Tale”
5. “I Know Where I'm Going”
6. “49th Parallel”
7. “Battle of the River Plate”

11. “Black Narcissus”

I suspect Criterion DVDs and Blu-rays of certain titles may trump their counterparts here, but price-wise, this is a decent way to sample a great cross-section of films. Current price is £16.97, down from the usual £23+. After VAT removal and with shipping added, the cost is £17.52, or $27.00US.

Supplements are minor, according to someone in the discussion forum included with the Amazon UK listing, but at least there are some:

- The Red Shoes: Biographies, Stills Gallery, Theatrical Trailer, Documentary and Featurette.
- The Battle of the River Plate: Cast Biographies
- The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp: 25 Minute Documentary including interviews with cinematographer Jack Cardiff and Stephen Fry
- A Matter of Life and Death: Biographies, Short Film about Jack Cardiff
- Ill Met by Moonlight: Theatrical Trailer

Can't speak to the print quality therein as reviews seem scarce.

I love their movies. Quality on the Criterions will be higher, especially since you're not dealing with PAL.

Excellent deal, though. May consider some day just for the ones not released here.

I picked this up about a year ago for about the same price. Fantastic collection - not a bad film in the group; I was very impressed by this directorial team. Yes, Criterions generally have more supplements, but this is essential as an introduction. --Peter

My apologies on the math. I accidentally converted using euros instead of Pounds. Still, even at $27, you're unlikely to top this price for so many P&P films.

So these are Region 2 which would mean they are unplayable here in good old Ohio unless I have a region free dvd player, correct?

To the best of my knowledge, these are region locked. If that is the case, then you would be correct.

Correct, but region-free players are sooo cheap and plentiful these days -- even in Ohio -- that there's little reason not to have one. The money you'd save on this set alone (over buying the collected, available North American versions) would be far more than the cost of a region-free player.
