Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

I saw a new page and got all excited! lol

I did find both of those movies on DVD at Dollar Tree, but both were quite some time ago:

Prince Avalanche - September 2016
A Long Way Down - January 2017

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

Did some lookin' at this thread.

May is next month; which is when a wave of DVDs and BDs hit stores last year.

Lets keep our eyes open, I'm hoping history will repeat.

I'm hoping too! I've also been visiting each Friday just in case it "pops" a little earlier.

That would imply there's a pattern when it comes to Dollar Tree. And I'm not sure we've ever seen evidence of that.

There tends to be a Summer release of titles.

Thanks. I need more good DVD cases.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

Been to five Dollar Tree stores in my area in the last few weeks time and haven't seen any DVDs on the shelf whatsoever. Are they ceasing to sell these anymore? Needing some cases at my end as the main reason, so kind of stumped why this has been happening as of late with them.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

The only pattern at Dollar Tree is them not having enough employees who show up to work or will not quit.

I say this with all affection, as I work next door to one of their stores that has some of the worst staffing issues I've ever seen in retail. If I want to run in their in my lunch break, their better be no one in line because a) I know they will only have one cashier working and b) I don't want to spend half my lunch hour just so I can pay only $2 on a drink and a snack.

And I NEVER see DVDs in any of their stores here in Cleveland. It's made up for the fact that I often find a lot of good stuff on the book racks.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

I have often wondered whether there is a collectivity to those solar thingamabobs. In recent years I have on occasion seen these things displayed on vendor's table's at much more than the $1.00 price at the Dollar Tree. Could they be like those Pez dispenser figurines.

Last May I was taking some time off and hubby and I stopped to find more DVDs. There was an older gentleman there specifically looking for those things. I believe it was the Spring one he was seeking. I suppose you can collect anything, but there may be a bigger market than I imagined for them.

Sadly, this week is another set of those things - Dinosaur scenes. Three weeks in a row seems a bit much. They must be extremely profitable, easy-to-make, or both. :P

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

Was at my local swap meet some month back, saw "Being John Malkovich" used for five bucks; the seller wouldn't budge.

Glad I passed on it. Hope to find.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

I ran by my local Dollar Tree last night after seeing sinned's post. I found approximately two dozen DVDs and two Blu-rays, none of which interested me at all.

Of the discs in sinned's list, I saw:

Decoding Annie Parker
Locker 13
Bunraku (Josh Hartnett)
Little Matchmakers

Of the other discs, I'd heard of exactly zero of them. The two Blu-rays were some sort of action triple feature (on one disc) and something with dragons in it.

In years past, I would have bought several anyway...but as I'm now trying to downsize my collection, the days of buying something just because it's cheap are over for me.

Ditto. I won't even spend a buck unless I have a good reason to do so. I have enough unwatched movies to last me for years, so why buy more?

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

I hit up 2 DT's today. Thanks for the heads-up people above!

1 said they "won't put the movies out until Friday" when I asked about the Item of the Week, which I'm guessing means they not only have them already, but have been peaking (and probably buying). But the other was very helpful and said they'd just gotten a shipment today and would look. 4 minutes later the nice lady brought out 2 cartons.

As usual each carton contained 30 pieces each. 1 had 0 BD's and 30 DVD's, while the other had 28 DVD's and 2 BD's.

The 2 Blu-ray's were:
Dawn of the Dragon Slayer BD/DVD/Digital Copy Combo
Triple Feature Action Volume 3 (Caged Animal / Outrage / Lords of the Street)

The DVD's were:
12 Rounds 2
13 Going on 30
2x A Little Game
Angels in Stardust
Away We Go (John Krasinski)
Borat
Bring it on Again
2x Bunraku (Josh Hartnett)
2x Cedar Rapids
Confessions of a Dangerous Mind
2x Cyrus
Eagle - Channing Tatum
2x Echoes of War
Flamingo Kid
2x Freedom
Jaws 3
2x Jungle Book - The Movie from Phase 4
2x Little Matchmakers
2x Locker 13
2x Love Happens
2x Lullaby
4x Open Road
2x Our Wild Hearts
Pineapple Express
Roborex
Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants
SNL: The Best of Will Ferrell
Stand Your Ground
2x Stretch
Thicker than Water
2x Touching Home
Walter w/slip
Whiteout

Plus a couple I missed writing down, like an anime called something like "Powtaken 2", plus a couple copies of some Spider-Man cartoons. Good luck to everyone searching!

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

Thanks for the update.

I've tired my local stores, both said they haven't gotten anything, that was this weekend.

So this might be for later this week. Good to know.

Haven't gotten to that point. I have gotten rid of stuff I no longer want, but am still buying.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

I stopped by Dollar Tree this morning and they had a bunch of dvds and a couple of blu-rays in a display right in the front. There were a few "previously viewed" mixed in with new ones. I didn't get all the names, but they had a set of 10 episodes of Blossom with Mayim Bialik, 2-disc Dark Knight returns, World's Greatest Dad, some kind of deluxe edition of Resident Evil and a Blu ray of the Michael Caine movie "Is Anyone There?". They had some of the other ones mentioned above. Probably about 40 or 50 in all. Maybe 30 different titles.
I bought a Blu Ray of a French Action movie called "Point Blank" I never heard of and a DVD of "World's Greatest Dad," which is a really good movie.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

The display at my closest store showed up today. I showed restraint, picking up 2 family-friendly flicks with decent reviews--Hemingway and A Little Game.

2 different BDs on the table. Dawn of the Dragonslayer(?) and a triple feature of XIII:The Conspiracy, JCVD and Brotherhood. I picked up the latter. All 3 films are on a single disc.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

Forgot to mention that I saw a single copy of the first season of The League. I didn't pick it up since I already own it, but it had a previously viewed sticker on the back.

I thought JCVD was surprisingly good. Easily worth $1 by itself.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

An underwhelming selection this time, but I picked up four items at three stores: Bunraku; Inside Man; Starship Troopers; & Equilibrium. Unfortunately none of the Magnolia titles I wanted.
