Depending on the price of The Office S1-S5, I may pick it up. Thanks!

Man, there are some shows I want, but I am hoping they release them on Blu-Ray. Why isn't 30 Rock on Blu-Ray?

It seems that whenever they do these week-long gold box deals, the prices are not that great. I hope that is not the case this time.

Re: Amazon: TV on DVD Week 5/3-5/9

I'll try to remember to check this thread (where I hope people will post the current deals). I know from seeing past game threads (for PS3 or Xbox 360) that there's usally a lot of talk regarding the pre-announcement, but most of the deals end up being quite mediocre. At least here we know the names of the titles instead of having to guess via clues. Since my price limit per season of a TV set is $15, I'm going to guess that most of them won't be cheap enough for me... not to mention that The Office and Get Smart are the only series on the list that I've ever seen any episodes, so even if all the others were $10 per season I'd be hard pressed to get them as blind buys. Well, I've seen some Gilligan's Island and The Waltons as a kid, but I wouldn't want to own them. The others may be good, but I only have 4-6 hours total TV viewing time per week and that's not enough to watch much or even keep up on what's current.

In my experience (antedotal evidence, but regardless), whenever a business advertises such a sale they are usually beating a real deal by a few weeks. Expect those same series to go on sale in a month for a much better deal.

Funny story, 30 Rock Season 3 was planned for Blu-ray but canceled at the last minute. DVD sales of Season 3 didn't change Universal's mind about Season 4 on Blu-ray either.

Seems like a pretty solid price on Scrubs.

Any word on if either season of Parks & Rec will get released on Blu? Honestly I hope Universal would simply combine the first two seasons into one package since season 1 is only six episodes.

Re: Amazon: TV on DVD Week 5/3-5/9

The OC Complete Series looks tempting, but I got Season 1 as a gift years ago when it first dropped, I got Season 2 for $6 or whatever at Big Lots, and picked up Seasons 3 and 4 for $15 each over the holidays. Right now they want over $100 for it and I can't imagine it would be worth paying more than $60 for that whole set.

I wonder what the prices on The Shield and Full House will be, not that I have the money for either.

Re: Amazon: TV on DVD Week 5/3-5/9

Tuesday looks promising in that most of these have never been on sale before AFAIK.

But todays' "Lightening Deals" were
thirtysomething S2 for 34.49 (43%off) -- 11% claimed
Martin all 5 seasons for 75.49 (49%off) -- 9 % claimed

If this is the trend I'm sure most of our wallets will be safe.

Would make sense, but I think Universal is still iffy on Blu-ray (judging by the lack of catalog releases and TV Shows on the format). S2 hasn't been announced for DVD yet, so it's possible. But if they didn't do 30 Rock, I don't think they would do P&R.

Actually Season 1 by itself would be a perfect way for them to put out a feeler to see how much interest there would be for the show in that format.

I hope they take 63% off The Shield's list price. Anyone know how early these sales start each day? I work Wed morning and want to get the Shield before they sell out and won't really have internet access.

Technically Sunday was before their "week" started

I didn't realize Scrubs was canceled (finally). Yeah, the re-vamped show wasn't that good, but I still watched it...
Well, I own S1-7 already, so I doubt I'll get the complete collection unless it has more bonus stuff that I really really want, but I can't imagine it would...

Except they'll charge probably $40 for Season 1 by itself on Blu. This is my guess based on seeing the DVD release still sitting at around $20 (give or take a buck or two) at most places such as Best Buy, Amazon.com, etc.

Lowest price ever for NCIS! That's like $15 a season. I was tempted on Numbers, but I just don't care for CSI type stuff. And Medium, haven't we already seen this concept in Dead Zone?

Medium is $9.99/season at BJs which means they'll show up at the other warehouse clubs eventually for similar prices.

Hmm... I can't even imagine seeing them for $10 each. I'm tempted by this deal, but I can't decide on whether or not to jump just yet.

By the way, folks, Medium is an excellent series. Don't knock it unless you've tried it. I think some resident DVD Talk members may do well to make a blind buy of the show.
