Re: Big Lots Part 8 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Luther, CAGED is an excellent film, but VERY serious, about a young woman who must endure her first year in a brutal prison. Don't get your imagination whetted that it will be like the later Women In Prison genre of the 70's, it's deadly dramatic and realistic, although it does feature a not so production code friendly lesbian matron, but she is hideous in every way imaginable.

Say hi to Clancy for me!

Finally found Fistful of Quarters!!! I had to go a few states over but I found it. Also I saw a bunch of the $3 '3' bluray/dvd 3 packs (had to almost bite my own hand to put it back).

Here is the rest of my score (Howard and Hellraiser are from Walmart)).

I finally got Drillbit Taylor for $3. It had been $5 there in the past. Not a great movie but I love Owen Wilson.

At the risk of starting another Big Lots stampede like last year when really great stuff was in the sales, just letting you guys know a lot if not most of the Paramounts being mentioned as "found" in the new batches (FANCY PANTS, SORRY WRONG NUMBER, THE ROSE TATTOO, etc) are DELETED titles from Paramount and selling (or at least being listed) at markups at Amazon marketplace, etc. unlike the Warners Bros. titles usually found in the $3 sales which are overstock titles that are still widely available on Amazon, Deep Discount, and everywhere else.

Sometimes I see the same DVDs for different prices at different stores. I don't know if they come pre-stickered and somebody messes up, or if stores sticker them before putting them out.

I guess you have to give Owen credit for not fixing his nose (like Streisand). Our family's pet name for him is "The Nose". Some people will probably says that's mean and disrespectful but other people I've talked to also agree that whenever you watch him you can't help noticing his nose to the point you're almost distracted. When trying to remember the difference between Owen and Luke, we just remember Owen = blonde + The Nose, Luke = dark hair + normal nose. I think I once read Owen is a surfer and is probably a pretty cool guy and basically being himself in most of his comedies.

Speaking of Owen, I saw The Minus Man at Big Lots which had mixed reviews. Do you think it's worth $3 as a blind buy?

How often is everyone seeing the Friday The 13th Deluxe Editions?

My local Big Lots closed early this year so it would be about 40+ minutes for me to get to another one.

My local store doesn't have them. BUT the store next town (about 25 miles away) had a ton of them. Part V, VII and VIII. None had the holographic covers. I almost bought part VII but changed my mind as I already own ALL of them, I just wanted to see the "slashed scenes".

Re: Big Lots Part 8 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

I think I've seen most of the OOP Paramount titles mentioned in the thread. I've been to two stores and picked up the following:

- "The Rose Tattoo"
- "Soapdish"
- "Let's Scare Jessica to Death"
- "Falling in Love"
- "Heartburn"
- "Fear Strikes Out"
- "Sorry, Wrong Number"
- "Fire in the Sky"

Also found the two-disc special edition of Kevin Smith's "Dogma," which I've wanted for a while.

Question: are the Paramount's $3 or $5?

Pearl Tacoma WA got in the $5, $6 & 9 Sony & Warner assortments. No $3 (though they were expecting that batch also they didn't get it) & no Paramounts. The ONLY thing i saw that I thought was worth the price was the Berkley box.

It's mixed. I know "Witness", "Mommie Dearest", "Stop-Loss", "In The Valley Of Ellah" and others are $5. However stuff like "Big Top Pee Wee", "Fire In The Sky", "All I Want For Christmas" and others are $3.

Re: Big Lots Part 8 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

The San Bernardino, CA store had a huge restock.

Picked up...

The Bridge On The River Kwai: 2-Disc (missing slipcover)
The Trouble With Harry (missing insert and slipcover)
Hot Pursuit (missing insert)
Das Boot: The Original Uncut Version

All the disc are mint and none of the cases were slashed.

Re: Big Lots Part 8 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Is the CD packaged in the I Love the 80's DVDs loose in the case or are they packaged in 2-disc cases. It seems as if all the ones I look at sound as if a disc is loose yet it does not sound like most floaters. I'm thinking it may be the music CD rattling in the case but want to be sure of it before I make the purchase.

I still check this thread but I'm essentially done with buying DVDs (minus a few TV seasons)... Nothing to add as far as a find.

BUT, if that is showing up at $3, then get on it asap. The transfer on that [those] DVD(s) - as well as the Superbit version - is still excellent (for what it is) and it is 5 hours well spent. Even in this "temporary" Blu-ray phase. It's one of the few that I've marked as not in immediate need of a HD transfer.

Of course...
