Big Lots Part 8 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Re: Big Lots Part 8 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)
Found Crossfire with Robert Mitchum & Robert Ryan for the first time over the weekend. I don't remember if this had been reported when the rest of the Film Noir Classic Collection Vol. 2 was showing up last year. I've never seen Clash By Night from this set either, though I think others did.
Makes me wonder how many different boxsets could be completed by shopping at Big Lots

I'd love to pick up Clash by Night sometime too
Oh and I did see I Confess at the store near like Phillipsberg NJ, but that was a while ago and haven't seen it since. Haven't seen a whole lot there since really. At least not anything that perks my interest.

I saw a huge pallet of those 6.00 double features but not one I wanted. I did manage to find a few singles I haven't seen at Big Lots before:
Masters of the Universe
Friday (Directors Cut version)
Memoirs of an Invisible Man
The Hand (Michael Caine)
Dr. Giggles

Don't know if this has been discussed before (I've been out of the loop in Singapore for 10 months) but Big Lots just sent me an e-mail with a link to a pdf listing "Hundreds of new $3 DVDs":

Re: Big Lots Part 8 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)
the Laurel & Hardy TCM disc also (when I left there was only 1 Poitier set left and a couple of the Western sets....so they didn't get a huge supply of this stuff.)
After a long drought it seems the W. Bridgewater store has really picked up the slack, back last summer when Raynham opened it seemed that they were getting all the good stuff and sometimes months would go by and the W.Bridgewater store had Nada!
But it has changed the Raynham store is stagnant and it seems they can't move the product, it's really piling up you can still find those Bad News Bear discs still polluting their racks!

You are right! Over the 3 day 4th of July weekend, I hit all three stores. The Raynham and Attleboro store had the same stock, the $5.00 case and old familiar titles which don't seem to sell, but the shabby and older W.Bridgewater Store had the new case of $3.00 titles like "THX-1138", "The Outrage" etc. I guess it depends on what the truck delivers to them unless the other two stores are sitting on newer merchandise in the stock room.
Thanks again Drake. Even if they are out of those titles, you pointed me in the right direction.

I haven't been able to spot that L&H TCM set anywhere near here in Chicago or the burbs. If anyone from the area has, please let me know.

Re: Big Lots Part 8 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)
Went to Big Lots today, didn't see much in way of new stock...did pick up Reds (I've seen this lone copy there for months, finally decided to put it out of its misery), Police Academy 4 (I've now got 1-4 there, don't really know why I buy them, nostalgic), and Wildcats.
There was an older gentlemen there with a list, bought a basket full of DVDs, I got a glimpse of myself in 50 years.

Personally, I'm hoping I've realized by then that it's not a good idea to add too many titles to my unwatched pile.

Kent, Wa got the $6 batch.
Pearl St, Tacoma Wa got the $6 batch & a restock on the worst titles of the $5 Warner batch. They'd been out for several hours before I got there, but the only boxes were the Potier & the Westerns. No Laurel & Hardy or WW2.
Bridgeport, Tacoma Wa told me they got nothing.

I went to our BigLots today hoping to find Soylent Green (based on an earlier post here), they'd gotten in a new batch of DVDs, probably have at least 10 big cardboard displays-worth of them, but Soylent Green wasn't one of them (dammit!)... -kd5-

Re: Big Lots Part 8 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)
After making the rounds repeatedly, I came up on the new $6 display in Turlock, CA. They had all of the boxsets, like 3-4 copies each. Except for no copies of the Sidney Poitier set, as it was the one I wanted the most, of course. Hope people aren't hoarding/Ebaying those. Anyhoo, came home with the two Western collections, the WB Warfront collection, and the two-fer Gumball Rally/Cannonball Run 2. Passed on the Psycho 2/3/4 set, was going back and forth on it.

Youngstown. We have several BigLots around here, only one that has a decent selection though. Every once in awhile I'll find one I wouldn't mind owning but for the most part all I see are the ones nobody wanted anyway (at least that's how I perceive it). Since it was mentioned here though, I wish ours would get Soylent Green, it's a DVD I wouldn't mind owning at BigLots prices. Pretty good flick... -kd5-
