Re: Big Lots Part 8 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Found a TON of the mythical "3" blu Ray sets today at an out of town Big Lots... Picked up one for me and two for the trade forum, was hoping to snag the two disc strangers on a train but struck out. I mustve left behind about 9-10 bundles with that bluray in it.

Only store out of about 10 I've visited that had it... Another store had a ton of the playmaker tilt bundles... I've really liked these espn bundles. The Tyson set is amazing.

Also had some $5 additions (The Golden Compass two-disc, Batman Forever two-disc), and some new $3 books (The Bin Ladens by Steve Coll, The Prince of Frogtown by Rick Bragg).
I wonder is it original or S.E.?

New Warne'r $5 pallet arrived, picked up Zodiac 2-Disc 1 left and it was a floater.

I hope they aren't trying to retrain us to the higher price.

Both the Zodiacs were shrink wrapped but showed no other used signs, everyone else's shrink wrapped too?

Didn't see Twilight Zone

Was Pee Wee the snapper? Interesting, a lot of $3 Warner titles weren't slashed. I saw Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome in keepcase, but it was slashed.

Was it shrink wrapped or factory wrapped?

Re: Big Lots Part 8 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

The San Bernardino, CA store had a big multi-layer display.

There are stuff I couldn't get to... yet.

Took home:

Heroe At Large
The Ice Pirates
Undead Or Alive
Space Cowboys (the copy I found wasn't slashed nor dented)
Escape From Fort Bravo
Strangers On A Train: Two - Disc Special Edition

and

The Phantom Of The Opera: 2 - Disc Special Widescreen Edition (bought since I needed a non-slashed case for SOAT).

I did see various Superman titles. I wanted to take home House On Haunted Hill with Vincent Price, but the cardboard case was damaged. Not cut, but dented and ruffled. I'm hoping to find a better copy in spots I couldn't access.

I thought this was mildly entertaining. The "build-up" to the reveal was kind of annoying. I am super jealous about whatever Big Lots this guy shops at because he is batting 1000 for many I haven't found yet.

I bought one today and it was shrinked wrapped but it did have the upper security sticker. Disc's looked like they had not been touched or used.

Re: Big Lots Part 8 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Since my review of the area Lehigh Valley stores a few days ago,I got a chance to revisit the one I rarely visit. Good thing. The reason why this one is always a step behind, seems to be the lack of volume. DVDs were moved to the far left front of the store. Still chaos. But that can prove to be a good thing. There's stuff from the Valentine Day $3 dumps up to the Father's Day ESPN and PV $5 deal still in pretty heavy quantities. And the new bunch of $5 mostly Warner stuff was in full stock. In the last couple of weeks,I've broken a rule and bought some $5 stuff, though all of it was with a good reason. For $5:Jaws 2 disc Standard,Bonnie & Clyde 2 disc,Superman I four disc(primarily for the score and remastered cartoons,as I'm not a big fan of the actual movie)Amadeus(single disc, but a favorite) and the Unforgiven(as good as Eastwood can get,I guess). Lots of those bad $3 multipacks,no 5 disc Bronx(I did find one at another store a few weeks ago, thanks to this forum and contributers pointing out what to look for). In general, though, that $5 price point is to be avoided for common stuff and certainly no blind buys. I have a theory that, though Warner was POed that their landfill stuff found it's way to the marketplace, they have made a deal with BL to get rid of even more stuff(e.eg.-Superman)and,though the price was higher for BL,they are probably getting away with the higher price point and higher margins. If it don't work out, they can lower the price or have a multi sale some dead weekend this summer.

The 2-disc and single disc versions of THX 1138 were both part of an assortment last year so maybe they're recirculating.

Re: Big Lots Part 8 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

As I (& others) mentioned above, there is a new $3 Warner batch that arrived after the $5 batch. Likely Warner felt the $5 batch was more valuable & BL paid more for it.

Re: Big Lots Part 8 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Went to the Raynham MA. store today tons of stuff ,lots of the 3 pack and the $5 WB stock.
I didn't buy a thing , it really looks like the sales for this stuff has dribbled to nothing the racks were jammed and I saw a lot of things from like a month ago.
Also buyer beware The Good Shepherd and Field Of Dreams (2 disc), and I was interested in both but passed when i took out my reading glasses only to read the small print FULL Frame!

The $5 stuff seems to depend on the store. Most of it's long sold at the stores here (Tacoma, WA).

Re: Big Lots Part 8 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Found a few that I don't think were mentioned:

M Butterfly (Cronenberg! The last DVD I needed to complete his feature-filmography)
The Gang that Couldn't Shoot Straight (early DeNiro - '71 Brooklyn location)

A couple more from the John Wayne Collection; Trouble Along the Way and The Train Robbers.

Big Lots Bargains: Modesto (eastside store)

Found a brand new tri-tiered display of the new WB $3 titles, stacked so high it's impossible to access the bottom layer at this time.

Picked up:
Memoirs of An Invisible Man
The Outsiders: The Complete Novel
Starsky & Hutch (widescreen)
Supergirl
Wise Guys (Brian De Palma comedy)

Also saw:
4 for Texas
The Gang That Couldn't Shoot Straight
Pee Wee's Big Adventure (snapper)
A Perfect World
Rio Bravo
The Spiderwick Chronicles (Two-Disc Special Edition)
THX 1138 (director's cut)
Tycoon (John Wayne)
Wild Cats (Goldie Hawn)
Young Guns II
and LOADS of titles I'd never seen before at Big Lots
