Finally found the Superman four disc and ESPN College Football Honor Roll set in Mansfield, Texas. Have some extras if you want to trade.

I wouldn't say we're competition, per se, but we could use some consolidation of effort. We don't always get the awesome deals you post up.

Granted, one day we hit up ALL the Greenville & very close (it ended up being 5 stores); one of the best hauls of any DVD trip I'd ever been on!

But competition or no, nice to know we're not the only crazy ones in this state!
There are also a couple more from around the upstate. Brent L. and Adam Tyner. Not sure of any others though. And yeah, I was just kidding about the competition thing.

My local score had the new $3 Warner display, so I happily grabbed the 2-disc Special Editions of Strangers on a Train, The Right Stuff and Wyatt Earp. I also saw a lone SE copy of Rebel Without a Cause, but it was a floater so I passed.

I would love to get a copy of Rebel Without a Cause. Has anyone else stumbled upon it?

I had a slight problem with the French Canadian edition of "Youth Without Youth" obtained from Big Lots. The main character, a supreme linguist, exchanges dialogue in a variety of languages. But there were no english subtitles for any of it. It turns out the viewer is supposed to be privy to these conversations via subtitles, but if you don't speak french you are SOL.
The three subtitle tracks on the disc are french language for all dialogue, subtitles for non-french dialogue (for people watching w the french soundtrack) and then english subtitles for Francis Ford Coppola's commentary. It was while viewing the commentary with subtitles when I realized I had missed a few key points of the narrative. When Mr. Coppola pauses, the subtitles reverts back to what is spoken in the film in english or translated to english. He also refers to a scene spoken in an imaginary language as if the information was a shock to viewers.
Actually, even missing a lot of dialogue, I really did enjoy the movie. However, I obviously need a different copy than what Big Lots is offering.

It showed up last summer, I think. I got one then. Glad to see the 2-disc Right Stuff is back too. I never got one the last time they were showing up. Now I have a new quest.

Re: Big Lots Part 8 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

In Amarillo, TX for the holiday weekend. The "nicest" BL here has *no* selection to speak of! There is the standard 4 sided wire rack about 2/3 full and a 2x4' cardboard "flat" of the $5 PV and $5 WB new titles. I saw nothing I could not get at home. Almost everything else about this store is better than my "home" store *except* the DVD selection. Came away empty handed... I doubt I'll visit the other area store.

Re: Big Lots Part 8 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Went to the Big Lots in Reading, PA yesterday. First time at Big Lots in like6 years, only went because of this place and dvd updates on youtube had me intrigued.

Got

Ali Rap's/Ali's Dozen/Honor Roll College Basketball vol 2 $3
Red Skelton America's Clown Prince 2 Disc $4
Repli-Kate $3

I really wanted to get Tilt, The Playmakers and The Bronx is Burning but I could not find any ESPN 3 packs with them.

If you strike out on the ESPN sets, check the exchange thread. There are lots of them available for trade.

21 Grams... that's a great find. Just out of curiosity, is it the regular or collector's edition. Either way, it's worth 3 bucks for sure.

Interesting... but I'm too "old school". A quick list and couple of comments is all that's needed. 9 minutes to see a handful of finds is way too long...

Anxious to get "home" to see if any of these made it out there. Hoping to find copies of "Soylent Green" and "Twilight Zone The Movie" even though they're "just OK" IMHO - They *do* belong in any self-respecting Sci-Fi collection, especially for $3/ea.

In Amarillo for a week as well. I am guessing you went to the store at 34th and Bell. I went by there yesterday. The selection was terrible. When I was here last month, the other store was even worse, so I don't even plan on going by there. Also went by the Ross Dress For Less. Nothing of interest there either. That only leaves Hastings for me to scour.

TNMT
The Cowboys
Fame (original)
Fair Game
The General's Daughter

Murder at 1600
Beavis and Butt-head Do America
The Big Bounce (1969)
