Re: Big Lots Part 8 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Pickings are slim here - so slim I'm starting to look through the anime. I did pick up Nicholas Ray's Bitter Victory, a b&w 'scope war film with Richard Burton & Christopher Lee, as well as Phil Morrison's Junebug w/score by Yo La Tengo. And Hudson Hawk for some ungodly reason.

Re: Big Lots Part 8 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

My local Big Lots has DVDs in 3 places: a wire rack and 2 cardboard displays (each display holds 4 of the cardboard DVD trays). Yesterday I combined the DVDs together, making room for more. I guess an employee had seen what I had done and brought out 3 cardboard trays and a shopping cart with box sets. Many of the DVDs were the same old same old that I had been seeing. But a lot of others (mostly Warner Brother titles) I was seeing at this location for the first time:

Duck Season
Delta Force 3
Strangers on a Train (standard edition)
Cobra
Dirty Deeds Unrated (had only seen the rated edition before)
The Haunting (1963)
Driving Miss Daisy Special Edition
Arthur 2: On The Rocks
Sunset Boulevard Centennial Collection
The Brooke Ellison Story
Love Finds Andy Hardy
The Cowboys
Marriage on the Rocks
Police Acaademy 20 Ann. Edition
McCabe and Mrs Miller
City By the Sea
Juwanna Mann
Lethal Weapon Directors Cut
Dangerous Liaisons
Addicted To Love
The Real Cancun
Diabolique
A Little Romace
Angels in the Outfield (1951)
Summer Catch

The shopping cart had some of the AMC Movie and TV Guide Presents box sets that someone else mentioned finding. They also had ESPN Ultimate Nascar and a Jean-Luc Godard Essential Director Series Box set. And several of the Mills Creek TV Show sets, none of which I have ever seen at this location before:

Jean-Luc Godard - Essentials: Directors Series
- Breathless ( À bout de souffle ) (1960)
- Petit soldat, Le ( Little Soldier, The ) (1963)
- Carabiniers, Les ( Riflemen, The ) ( Soldiers, The ) (1963)
- Notre musique ( Our Music ) (2004)

The Very Best of All-Star Family Feud
The Very Best of Match Game
The Very Best of The Price is Right
The Very Best of Password
Game Show Moments Gone Bananas
21 Jump Street
Booker
Day Break
Wanted: Dead or Alive (Season 1 Vol 1)
Wiseguy (Season 1 Vol 1)
Hunter (Season 1 Vol 1)
McHale's Navy
Cobra
Renegade
Tenspeed and Brown Shoe
Greatest American Hero (Season 1)
Swamp Thing (8 Episodes)
Men Behaving Badly (8 Episodes)

Edit: According to DVDAF and Amazon, The Greatest American Hero set was not suppose to be out until May 18. Also it does not have "The Greatest American Heroine" pilot like the Anchor Bay release, but it does have a 20 min interview with the shows creator Stephen Cannell.

How much were the box sets going for and the Jean-Luc Godard - Essentials: Directors Series?

Re: Big Lots Part 8 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

While I did pick up a couple of the AMC sets, the Jean-Luc Godard set is the real find here. A $60 list set for $5 is a bargain by any standard. I probably should have also picked up the Werner Herzog set, but it wasn't quite essential enough to add to my library; if it is for yours, $30 retail for $2 is a no brainer. But better get out there fast; the numbers appear to be very low: at three stores I found only one copy each of the Godard and Herzog sets mixed in with the AMCs. Good hunting!

I found the Herzog set as well! There were 2 other copies, I might go back and pick them up for trade bait or gifts later on down the road. If anyone finds the Godard set that someone mentioned I'd be willing to trade a Herzog set for it

I spoke with one store the other day who told me they got nothing this week. I plan to be at the doors of the store closest to me when they open at 9 (today's there freight day), looking for Herzog & Godard.

Re: Big Lots Part 8 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Ditto on the Herzog and Godard sets in Newark, Ohio BL.

Also picked up...

4 disc set of THE UNKNOWN LIVES OF COMEDIANS featuring discs on Jimmy Durante, Peter Sellers, Jonathan Winters and The Marx Brothers ($5)

4 disc set of ESPN ULTIMATE NASCAR ($5)

Plus at $3 each ...

GARBO (TCM Archives Documentary) narrated by Julie Christie
ELVIS: THAT'S THE WAY IT IS Special Edition (snapper case)
THE HAUNTING (1963 version w/Julie Harris)

Plus saw many of the WB and Mill Creek titles listed above. I bought TENSPEED AND BROWNSHOE as my wife dearly loves All Things Jeff Goldblum.

Re: Big Lots Part 8 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Pearl Street Tacoma got pretty much everything mentioned above EXCEPT the Godard & Herzog, GRR! Mostly a weak Warner restock with slices. Most memorable titles I haven't seen before at BL:

TCM Garbo documentary
Driving Miss Daisy
McCabe & Mirs Miller
Love Finds Andy Hardy
Strangers On A Train (Hitchcock)
Dangerous Liasons
Elvis That's The Way It Is (Las Vegas Concert)
That's Entertainment 3

Lots of the Karloff 2 fers, & lots of weaker titles.........

Re: Big Lots Part 8 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

I found the Godard set and The Unknown Lives of Comedians set. They also had a number of AMC Movie Classics sets for $5. I remember:

Ultimate Movie Collection II (24 movies on 12 DVDs)
Vamps and Vixens

And there were 2 packs which included James Cagney, Edmond O'Brien, Gary Cooper and ??? I can't remember the other.

Re: Big Lots Part 8 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Restock here with a mix of older titles plus most of what's been listed with *lots* of the TV-Guide sets (these are all from Genius and look to be assortments of PD titles).

I picked up the only Herzog set, "Love Finds Andy Hardy", and "Strangers on a Train".

No new Mill Creek... I'd hoped to find a "Tenspeed and Brownshoe" for $5 but no luck yet.
