Eclipse 21: Nagisa Oshima 55% off @ Barnes & Noble

Barnes & Noble, $31.49

This is clearly a misprice on Barnes And Noble and with Amazon.com.
They both have the list price at $44.95, but actually the list price is $69.95.
You can use the military link, visa link, AAA link for an extra discount of course, and a great deal for 5 Criterion/Eclipse films.

Thanks O.P.!

I was going to wait for the next 50 percent off Criterion sale, but now I don't have to. I think there are more than a few of us that have been waiting for decent versions of these films for a long while - I know I have.

This is most peculiar. FYE and Best Buy also has the list price as $44.95.

Hmmm ... that SERIOUSLY leaves open the possibility that the only place that has the MSRP wrong is Criterion's site.

Have to watch how this sorts out as it might not be as good a deal as we thought.

Re: Eclipse 21: Nagisa Oshima 55% off @ Barnes & Noble

I think most of the Eclipse 5 disc sets have been $69.95 MSRP.

Think positive, this is good news either way. Either we're getting a great deal, or Criterion is lowering some prices. Win win!

Re: Eclipse 21: Nagisa Oshima 55% off @ Barnes & Noble

Ordered with membership and Bing.

I have watched the Silent Ozu and Travels With Hiroshi Shimizu sets, the first two movies in the Kenji Mizoguchi's Fallen Women set and the first three movies in the Nikkatsu Noir set. I had never heard of Shimizu before the Eclipse set was released, but I've enjoyed all the movies that I've watched. The Eclipse supplements are limited to well-written and usually informative notes on each DVD case.

I haven't seen any of the films included in this set, but the other fims that I have seen from this period of Oshima's career have been interesting and challenging.

There is not likely to be a better deal than this on the Oshima set.

ororama, if you liked the Eclipse Mizoguchi set, you should check out MoC's four Mizoguchi double-features. Street of Shame is the only overlap title, and the MoC edition includes a commentary track.

Thanks for the reminder, NoirFan. I've been aware of the Mizoguchi double features for a while and almost ordered a few times, but held back. I should do it.

Now is definitely the time! They're all currently 9.99 each, directly from Eureka, with free international shipping.

Region free and not PAL? I've rarely ordered anything internationally.

You can pick up a region-free player for around $50, and there are literally hundreds of great films that are exclusive to R2 or R4.

Re: Eclipse 21: Nagisa Oshima 55% off @ Barnes & Noble

Yeah, I've had two cheap region-free players die on me over the last few years. With expensive players (recorder and PS3) hooked up to my televisions right now, and not having room for another player in the current racks/set-ups, I'm lazy and avoiding other regions for the short term.
