Universal Monsters Legacy Sets?

Anyone know of the cheapest place to pick these up? I remember hearing them going for $15 some time back.

This is of no help to you right now, but if you're ok with waiting, I'd suggest searching for them in October. Seems like I saw them in several different places (Sam's Club, for instance) at pretty reasonable prices.

Re: Universal Monsters Legacy Sets?

Do you mean the 2-disc 4+ movie "Legacy Collections" or the new 1 movie 2-disc "Legacy Series" (aka 75th Anniversary/Special Edition/etc)?

The new 2-disc collections (Dracula, Mummy, and Frankenstein) have been as low as $12.99, except for the recent Wolf Man.

I scored a couple of the older Legacy Collection sets (which are massive bargains, I think, because they contain 4 movies or more) for very cheap off used sites like Secondspin.com and GoHastings.com.

I'm holding off on buying these again until they appear on high-def.

This doesn't help you find them unless you know Hugh Hefner, but I noticed on The Girls Next Door Hugh Hefner had the figures from the original set on a shelf over his bed.

I noticed that Walmart online had the Collections for the Invisible Man and The Creature from the Black Lagoon for 15 something but the others were in the 20 something range.

Regarding Dracula the older 4 film collection has much better video quality, though the audio is better on the newer version.

Re: Universal Monsters Legacy Sets?

I picked up the Wolf Man last summer for about $14 and some change at my local Borders. If memory serves, the in-store price was $19.99 and I applied one of their frequently released coupons for 30% off, which was applicable to DVDs.

If you can find a Borders store that carries the title, you could probably get a similar deal with a coupon--provided it is being sold for $20. I see that their current online price for the same title is now ridiculously high at $32.99, but products are often priced differently at the B&M stores. I have also seen the same products being sold at different stores for different prices, so if you don't succeed at first, checking another store might bring a better result.

It's a great title by the way (the same can be said for each of the entries in the Universal Legacy series).

BTW I forgot to mention I agree with Whit9999, all 6 titles in this series are essential classic horror imo.

Been holding off for a while on a good price for the Invisible Man set. I'll probably continue holding off until October since its not very high on my wishlist. The other 5 are incredible sets.
