Re: Huge Media Blasters Sale at Bestbuy.com
Great prices, but the nearest BB is too far away to be worth the gas. With shipping and tax, those triple features are just over a dollar cheaper that what I got them for during past DD sales. That was before all the slim case versions were released, so the resale value is slightly better if you are breaking up the sets. They really should indicate the difference on the site.
It's strange that the British Horror 4-Pack is 50 cents cheaper than the triple feature sets. |
^ Shipping's currently 99 cents.

Re: Huge Media Blasters Sale at Bestbuy.com
$6.50 is a really good deal for Chris Columbus' Galaxy High School series (1980s Saturday morning cartoon show that was ahead of its time). I'd get it if I didn't already have it...

Re: Huge Media Blasters Sale at Bestbuy.com
Sale prices were not available in store, but they pricematched their website for me.

Re: Huge Media Blasters Sale at Bestbuy.com
Exactly what I'm going to try to do, it doesn't say online only so it should be matched easy....

'Wicked Women' was one of the triple features that got reissued. They actually changed a title in that one - the original set had Nightmares Come at Night included, while the slim version replaces it with Wicked Lake. |
Re: Huge Media Blasters Sale at Bestbuy.com
I'll be getting a rz cert right after xmas and I'm wondering when this sale ends. I can't seem to find the date anywhere, does anyone know?

Re: Huge Media Blasters Sale at Bestbuy.com
I only picked up Ultimate Death Trance SteelBook (and hope it ships) and Tokyo Gore Police. Christmas really killed my wallet this year.

Re: Huge Media Blasters Sale at Bestbuy.com
Guys, you are all wrong about Best Buy honoring their web-site prices. Trust me on this. Best Buy's POS (cash-register point of sale) has its computer set up to price match bestbuy.com. I should know. I routinely request for price matching against bestbuy.com's prices and I generally don't have problems.
What you need to do is if you experience a problem either ask someone in media about price matching against their website or ask to talk to one of their store managers. I used to have problems until I talked to a sympathetic media salesperson and was informed that their stores do price match. However, most of their employees generally try to deny the price matching because then their register is tied up while another media employee checks the price against their website and then another few minutes for another manager to override the price change. You just have to be adamant that you want the price match. Trust me, when I walk into Best Buy and I'm met with resistance at checkout, I'll ask to speak with a manager while still tying up their register. That's usually enough to annoy that employee for the rest of the day. If they say they don't price match against their website, challenge that employee by demanding to speak with one of their managers. Trust me, their employees only deny the price match against their website because they don't want to be inconvenienced by having to go jumping through hoops in order to honor their website prices. If youo have further problems, log onto your Best Buy Rewardzone account and send a personal message to SARAHW as she is with Best Buy corporate. I have had issues with Best Buy before and she has always been kind enough to assist me with dealing with those problems. Matter of fact, the problems were so bad that she actually issued me $70 in Rewardzone coupon certificates and a $25 Best Buy giftcard for my problems. |
Re: Huge Media Blasters Sale at Bestbuy.com
About Best Buy price matching the website, they do, because I've had them do this several times, including a couple hours ago when I picked up Versus from there as part of this sale and made them price match the website. It rang up as $29.99, but I pulled it up on my phone and showed the cashier the sku, the picture of the dvd, and the Best Buy logo and she had no problem doing it. It's easier than having them price match another store, because sometimes you get a cashier that decides that they need to call the other store and verify that they have the item in stock.

Re: Huge Media Blasters Sale at Bestbuy.com
I had that problem that you mentioned kinichi at one of my local BB's. Thing is both Employee and Manager were adamant that they did not price match their website.
Went ahead and contacted CS/Corporate and they investigated the matter. A couple days later they had reported the manager confirmed my story that they refused me the Website Price Match (and that it was for an item that was not only "Web Only" special). and had me do an online order while I was still in the store (waiting almost an hour). The CS said BB does in fact price match their site, as long as it is not a "Web Only" Special. I already knew this because a newer BB that opened closer to my place does them at the register (looks them up). Got a $15 for all my troubles. I almost want the Shaw Bros. titles on the available in store so I don't have to go through the hassle again. It was extremely tiring. The problem with encouraging "In-Store Pickup" at BB, is if there are less than 3 of said item in the store, it was say "Not Available For Store Pickup". |
Re: Huge Media Blasters Sale at Bestbuy.com
asian, that's the problem. You backed down from a manager. Listen to what I have to say here. Oh, next time, ask to speak to their store manager or their district manager. Best Buy has dozens of regular managers for different departments. It's the store manager you want or ask for their district manager. They have the DM's phone number on speed dial.
Also, the thing you have to do is be very adamant about wanting them to honor their online price. I would say, try going to your local Best Buy store again and this time, find the DVD's on their website that you want to purchase; print out the selection of that DVD that shows their advertised price, and go from there. What you need to do is make a scene in front of that Best Buy cashier. When they refuse to give you their online price, refuse to buy the item, which you have the right to do and walk out without buying a single thing. Do not give in and pay for it through their kiosk and pick it up in store because they have now inconvenienced you instead of you inconveniencing them. If that doesn't work, ask to talk to a store manager and then demand to talk to their district manager. Trust me on this when I say that their district managers take these things very seriously. I has a problem with one of their store security people and he would harass me everytime I came into the store, he was black and I'm white. So, I kept complaining. Eventually, I started talking to another of their security people, a white guy, and told him of my problem. I had walked in their store with a pair of shoes and he demanded I leave the package at the front door. It wasn't like BB sold shoes in the first place and he could have asked to search the bag before I left the store. Eventually, he stopped working there, which my complaints could have had something to do with that. I'll never know. At any rate, you always have the option of ordering it online and having it shipped to your house. However, by walking out of their store, not only do you make that Best Buy cashier and whatever managers involved looked very small, not only do the other customers waiting to be checked out laugh at the BB employees but that store also loses a potential sale. With our economy, retailers cannot afford that since the average Best Buy customer spends an average of $50, at least, per visit. What I would do, is if you have a Reward Zone membership, log into your account through myrewardzone.com and direct your browser to the community forums/boards through the Reward Zone site, and send a personal message to SARAHW, she is with Best Buy corporate and she has been very helpful. Also, if you have problems getting a store to honor their online prices, check out the Best Buy forums on their website bestbuy.com and ask for someone from corporate to assist youo. The best bet you have? File a complaint through their "contact" form located on their website. It may take anywhere from a few days to a week or two but the local District Manager will call you personally and ask you what the problem is. They really are a great bunch of people and look into solving any problems you might have. Like I said, next time, make a printout of the DVD selection or selections you want, print those out, and take them in to the store when you go there the next time and show them the proof. It's the same as an advertised price. Best Buy stores do honor their web prices on their website, you just have to stick to your guns. For me? I'm always looking for an idiotic or moronic Best Buy employee to irk me for any reason. Going through checkout? I'm always looking for a reason to argue the point. Mostly? The local store, their regular employees, know me because I do buy a lot of stuff there, so they recognize me. I mostly don't have any problems with their employees. It's only when they hire a new employee for checkout that I enjoy a good old fashioned "public display" to make them think twice about challenging me. It's fun ... and it took me a lot of practice to get a backbone when it comes to salespeople ... they don't like it when you push back against their aggressive stance and call them on their bluff. |

Re: Huge Media Blasters Sale at Bestbuy.com
Best Buy employees are unusually pushy anyway. Especially at the store in my area. Let's just say that they forced me to develop a thick skin. I just developed the attitude that if they want to push, I'll push back.
They're always asking stupid questions. First they ask if you need help with something. Being that I've went through this little verbal banter before, on many occassions with their co-workers, I already know that if it's not on the shelf, they don't have it. Oh, and they go out of their way to drive you insane. How many times I have went into their store, needed help with something and can't find a single soul to help me. Yet, when I didn't need help, I'd get ambushed by every employee in their store. They are like locusts. I'm a nice guy, as long as their employees dont follow me around the store, like they tend to do. :lols: Oh, and when I spend a few thousand dollars in their store every year, they do remember me. I've purchased brand new TV's, a few brand new computers, hundreds of DVD boxed sets, etc. |

Re: Huge Media Blasters Sale at Bestbuy.com
I'm one of the people who bought quite a few of the movies before they started doing the 3 packs which sort of sucks as you can guess. Still this is the lowest price I've seen them and I think I'll order 1 or 2 that I don't have at all.
