Costco has the DVD for $20 off (at register) starting 12/7/09. Not sure what their regular price is.

I still have my Rome 2 pack from an Amazon Goldbox sale a long time ago, unopened. Now, they've got the Blu-ray set for the same price I paid for that. I really need to stop buying.

If this were just a markdown, I'd say "wait", but since it's a DOTD, I doubt it will be cheaper during HBO week.

Amazon is notorious for marking things down that they use in upcoming specials that are a bit cheaper and piss off everyone that ordered at the "bargain price".

Case in point: Stargate Atlantis complete which was a little cheaper on Thanksgiving as opposed to the week before.

These are just observations that I have made and may come true or not -- so take it with a grain of salt.

No idea if it will be cheaper, but the lowest price i have seen it for was 31.99 from amazon.

It's currently listed as $84.99 on Best Buy's website, but it doesn't state whether or not that's the list price. So, at the very least it will be selling for $42.50, but if the actual list price is higher than it will be on sale for more than that.

Looks like a great deal.

I may jump on the Blu-ray set but I wonder if the discs will have trouble with scratching. I know B;u-rays are supposed to be scratchproof, but sliding the discs in the pages like that has me worried.

I'm really tempted to snag the blu-ray. But I'm not entirely sure if I would watch the discs more than once...

I had debated about it for a minute or two, as a blind buy of the Blu-ray set, but now I think I'll just netflix it first. I'll need to see it first... and I'm low on funds. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing this show though.

Not to worry. The clear coating on Blu-rays are a lot better than DVDs. I had a few items with lose disc in the case before and they didn't even leave a hairline scratch. Just moving disc from those paper sleeves shouldn't be a problem.

I think the set is currently $49.99 at Costco. I'm not interested in it, so I didn't pay much attention.

After $20 off, that would be a better deal.

I'm only 75% sure, though.

The set that will be on sale is a special gift set with a large book which appeared to be titled "Rome". I saw the tag was $68.99. They were in a box on the floor. The Amazon deal would be cheaper, but this does have the value added book. Since it will be $20 less after tax is applied, it may be worth the slightly higher price (under $50 in most places).

Thanks OP-Grabbed a set for $39.99 as I have never seen this but heard good things about it. The bad thing about the order is it says it ships in 1-3 weeks! Oh well for that price I'm glad to wait-

BB already has a HBO sale going on and it sucks :(

i don't thing they are going to do the infamous HBO sale this year which is a major bummer i wanted to snag generation kill on BR and six feet under complete series
