Amazon (U.S.): Preston Sturges Filmmaker Collection - $28.49

I noticed this dropped in price recently (today, perhaps) from around $47. The new price of $28.48 seems fair, for those so inclined, unless someone's seen it cheaper in the past?

I think I got it last year for about $32 at Costco. Personally, I adore this set. It's a steal at that price.

This set dropped to $30.99 tonight on Amazon. Not the lowest it's been, but still a decent price for those interested . . .

Excellent set of classic comedies, well worth the price. I got mine from Columbia House with Fun Cash back in 2007.

This is one of the best investments you could ever make if you enjoy fast-paced well written comedy, or maybe even if you don't. This collection is to Comedy what the Val Lewton Collection is to Horror, the best of the best...get or regret it.

P.S. Hey Gobear, still posting at DVD Verdict?

To anyone who owns this set or is well informed on the matter: how do the transfers of The Lady Eve and Sullivan's Travels in this set compare to the Criterion editions?

Hail the Conquering Hero and Christmas in July from this set have recently been released as single disks at a list price of $20. About $17 at Amazon . I saw Hail the Conquering Hero for $10 at Costco. Much cheaper and worth it to buy the box set while it is still available.

This is a great deal. With the exception of THE GREAT MOMENT, these are all very good films that you can revisit multiple times. I prefer CHRISTMAS IN JULY.

Unfortunately, The Miracle of Morgan's Creek isn't a part of this set (It was the basis for the 1958 Jerry Lewis film Rock-a-Bye Baby, so Paramount kept the rights to it when they sold their "old" film library to Universal.)

That dvd (UPC:097360431247) is now OOP and currently sells for around $15-20 on the secondary market.
