Jeez. It warms my heart to know I paid $75 or more for this set about a year after it was originally released on dvd. I know things go down in price but that is just crazy.

I was tickled to pay $40-something (I think...could have been closer to $60), when this was first released. At the time, I still had a VHS tape on my shelf of the episode Space Vampire that I had picked up at Media Play about 7 years earlier for $10.
That's $10 for one episode on tape (which I also thought was a bargain at the time), versus 36+ eps on a superior format, in a package nearly the same size.
When this got reduced to $15 a couple years back I bought a spare copy that I still haven't opened yet.

$8 is insane, but not entirely surprising given how poor the dvd market is- and how poorly the studios have managed their assets.

Yeah, it's worth it for Twiki and Princess Ardala. And a space vampire. And Spock's dad's demonstration of giving head.

I seriously hope that people who haven't heard of the '80s TV series (SyFy Channel has rerun it several times in the past two decades) aren't oblivious to the '30s comic strip and movie serial.

I ordered it at $9.99 two days ago, but emailed customer service today about a price adjustment when it dropped back to $7.99, and they obliged, so you might want to give it a try.

For this price, possibly to try it out. But it is very much it's era and pretty campy. I watched it when I was in high school and enjoyed it at the time, but as a first time view for someone in this day and time, I don't know if I would recommend it.

From a nostalgia standpoint I would have gone up to maybe $20 for the whole series, so at $8 it is a no brainer. Worst case, you could probably sell it online and get most of your money back if you don't like it.
