The boxset discussed in this thread was upgraded/reissued last Fall.

The newer release - according to a customer review at Amazon UK - includes an additional film, a 100-page booklet, and slimmed-down packaging. This newer release just dropped in price to 18.77 GBP at Amazon UK. Therefore, it can be had - after removing the 20% VAT and including shipping - for 18.72 GBP shipped to the U.S. (or under $31 U.S.).

It had been hovering at around 25 GBP (meaning the price on Amazon UK before removal of the 20% VAT and not including shipping).

Rather odd...the Amazon UK search filter has to be set to "Film & TV" for it to turn up, if you search simply under "All Departments" it doesn't pop up like it should.

Amazon UK also has the Ultimate Hammer Collection for $40.42. USD shipped. 21 discs @ essentially $2.00 per disc/film! Excellent buy IMO if you enjoy those hammer films from that time period. Grabbed one of those as well with the Meyer set-

Got this over the weekend for the booklet and the new packaging - well worth the upgrade. Just a note: "Europe in the Raw", the new disc in the set is region 2, and did not play in my unmodified LG BD530.

Save the bonus film and packaging, is this otherwise the same? That is, same transfers as previous box?

I've read elsewhere that the transfers were better on the new set, but I did a side by side comparison, and if there's an improvement, I did not see it.

Got mine...Really nice set for the money but Amazon UK lists this set as a 12 disc set and mine has 13 discs!???

I never noticed any difference in picture quality in the two sets. Im pretty happy to have unloaded the previous cumbersome set... the added movie is a bonus\

Though I'm more partial top his films that have actual stories... my favs would have to be BVOD, Mudhoney, Vixen, Faster Pussycat Kill Kill, and Supervixens.

Pulled the trigger on the new set. Less than $31us. It will free up some space and provide me with an extra movie and a book? Plus I'm almost positive I can flip the older set for a profit. Win win.

I sold my original set online for $60 — exactly what I paid for it (see Post #1 in this thread) — about three days after this new set arrived. I priced it that way assuming someone would barter me down to maybe $40 or $50, which I would've settled for, but I got so many responses, the asking price was never questioned. I wouldn't doubt some folks who purchased the original set later at an even lower price (again, see Post #1) could sell it and potentially cover the costs of both sets for a pretty nice break-even!

The book in the new set's a pretty quick read thanks to it's overly large text — and it makes enough references to Jimmy McDonough's awesome book about Meyer (discussed much earlier in this thread) that any holdouts around here should finally be motivated to seek it out — and while I miss the individual cases with their sleeves plastered with delirious Meyer-speak from his trailers doing double duty as plot synopsis, the abundant photos in the book are fair compensation.

Saw a VHS copy of Vixen for $10 today then went to a different store and saw a DVD copy for $39.99. Very glad I didn't buy either of them since this whole box set was only $30 shipped.

I got the new set in the mail today and it's just great. Probably less than half the size of the original and feels like really good quality. The booklet is a good read, I'm about 35 pages in to it and have another 50 or so left. Easy but fun and informative material. Add on the extra film, and that I flipped the old set for a really nice price and this was a fantastic purchase.

Got mine today (ordered on 8-19). Tried the first two discs in my Samsung bluray player and they wouldn't play but The Immoral Mr. Teas is working fine on the XBOX 360. Hopefully the others will too.
The set looks nice though. The book has poster art for most of the movies so I don't mind not having the individual cases for the DVDs too much. I never saw the old set but this one only takes the space of about 5 DVD cases.
