It appears that DVDPlanet pulled most of the Buena Vista and Miramax blu-rays from this sale. I have to go through each blu-ray on my wanted list to see if it is cheaper than Walmart (which is usually the lowest price in most cases.) If so great. If not than I can always get Best Buy to price match Walmart's price.
They've made it even more work this time around to find bargains. DVDpricesearch is the easiest way to simplify this process. |

Just ran some quick numbers, and while all items dropped from before sale prices, the discounts for my wishlist ranged from 10% (Up) to 31% (The Office - Season 5). Most were in the 12% to 15% drop range. So now their prices are lower than pretty much anything else out there now, but not necessarily by much and it sure doesn't measure up to the old sales.

The Claudette Colbert Collection $29.97 The Fugitive: Season Three, Vol. 1 $23.97 Mary Tyler Moore: Complete Season 5 $17.97 Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World [Blu-ray Disc] $12.38 Total: $84.29 people may balk at only 40%, but in reality, since I have to pay sales tax at Borders, Amazon, etc the prices here translate into a net savings greater than 40%- closer to 45-50%. And the M&C Bd is almost 60% off, and almost $2 cheaper than I've ever seen any Fox Bds at Best Buy ($12.99 + tax is the best price I've seen there). There is of course a whole bunch of stuff that you can easily find at a better savings elsewhere now, but I get the feeling that a lot of people are more interested in buying a great deal than are buying a specific title. A deal is only a deal if you really need/want something. My problem in the past has been a mindset that tells me "it's a great deal, might as well stock up on impulse buys since I may want to use it later" when in fact I end up spending more than I should and the stuff just sits there collecting dust. The great thing about this sale is it's going to force me to go into my collection and make use of the stuff I've already bought and haven't gotten around to watching. I realize that wasn't DD's intent, but it will work out better for me in the end. Again, I wish DD well because I don't want the internet landscape to dwindle down to just a couple mega-retailers. I took a look at my Wish List at DD and this sale isn't as horrible as some of you make it out to be.
If you know exactly what your looking for and do some price comparisons, there are a few decent deals out there. Stepfather 1 and 2 are only $11.97 each and everywhere else I've looked it's $14.99. The thing I don't understand is several fairly recent titles on my list are listed as Discontinued, which includes: Greek Chapter 3 Private Practice season 1 Halloween Triple Pack Lilo and Stitch 2-disc DVD All these came out in the last year to year and 1/2. Does this mean that DD's wholesaler just doesn't carry them anymore and that's why they are listed as such? |

I wish the TV shows were decent like House, Psych, Veronica mars and 24 (although 24 is 15-16 a season which is good but seeing as they were just 12.99 at target and black friday is coming up which has house and psych at 12.99 and im sure 24 will be 12.99-14.99) i see no real deals for me (im a tv hound) the six feet under set under 100 is alright but it should be around 75-80 on BF..

I snagged the footlocker boxset for the old G.I. Joe animated series. It was only $107 and the cheapest I've seen it elsewhere is $145. Not bad, though it's already backordered, so who knows when it'll come.

This is the one that I have been keeping an eye on and just may get from DD. And with Amazon & Walmart at $104.99 and BB $129.99, this seems like a great deal...though I am not sure if I am ready to pull the trigger yet.

I just don't see the big deal here. I just bought '"The Nun's Story", "Westworld", "The Sundowners", "Home From the Hill" and "Badlands" for $5.79 each at Amazon, totaling $28.95. In this Deep "SALE" the same would cost me a total of $43.35.
Borders Books gives you 40% off of MSRP with coupons all year. Where is the sale? |

The reason this sale seems disappointing so many posters is that historically (i.e., around 2004-2007) it was hands-down the best sale around. That's no longer the case, but there are still many, many good deals to be had. |

I ordered a couple Farscape sets from DD at the $95 price, and they shipped 1 day before the price drop. Will DD honor the new price, or do I have to go through the motions of returning the sets and re-ordering?

I ordered a couple of CDs from Deep Discount and two Blus from DVD Planet. I went with Planet only because of the active $5 off $50 coupons (COUPONCABIN & 5OFF50NOW) which made them cheaper than Deep Discount. That's it! I'm done.

I re-checked some of my wishlist items and found myself pleasantly surprised. The order is much less than I might normally have ordered, but:
Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog DVD: $8.65 (42% off MSRP) Fastlane - The Complete Series DVD: $14.39 (76% off MSRP!) InuYasha - Season 7 DVD: $44.62 (55% off MSRP) I haven't gotten my confirmation e-mail yet, but I did enter the HOTSTUFF code and it didn't complain. Potentially, I may place a second order, but at present, it doesn't look like it. |

I just ordered some dvds and the prices turned up low compared to Amazon.
Like the 3 STOOGES vol. 7 is $19 at Amazon and $17 at DD. So give it a try to see. |
