Ive had stuff on back order for months. It takes them a long time to cancel in my experience if they cant fulfill.

They seem about the same to me on these issues since Ive been shopping with them over the years. They do a ton of business in the amazon marketplace so I doubt that will happen.

As I've written here before, I count myself among those disappointed with DD's sales this year. But business is business and they have to do what they have to do. Regarding DD's service, in my experience it's always been prompt and good. Never a problem in six years. IMO, DD is now simply one among several online DVD sellers whom I'll be tracking for good deals--no longer Number 1. It was a good run, though, and I'm grateful to DD for helping me fill out a lot of gaps in my library. I certainly hope that they stay in business.

I'm going to give my two bits in the hope of clearing up a few things right now!
We all know neither DD is going out of business nor I will stop posting about their shitty CS, poor inventory, and excessively long shipping times. I am writing these out of frustration. We all had bad experience with our purchases and we all have written about them here on the bargain forums. If I have one bad experience I usually let it go but this is not the first or second or third. This keeps happening to me and I am sick of it. And I believe I have every right to share with my fellow DVDTALKers. And no I am not going to stop buying from them b/c I am a bargain hunter, like many of you here, so if i see a good deal i usually jump on it. But i have also every right to bitch about if an order takes more then a month to ship or my order get canceled without any reason given to me or CS reps can not even help me with my orders. If you don't like my posts or the way I express my feelings then just skip it and don't even bother writing a response.

whoah....so is it confirmed that there will be no more big sales at DD for the rest of the year? No 20% off sale? If so, then this is HUGE for me, as I have over 200 items in my wishlist. Gotta admit though, most of those items are there for reference.

Do you think it is a good idea to go with Netflix from now on? I don't think I can buy too many more dvds because of lack of space. It's to the point where I need to start throwing away keep cases for every new dvd I buy :(

I wouldn't say "confirmed" on "no more big sales at DD" as there are still a few weeks left and they have had a couple of minor sales on select titles at prices less than a 25% off sale... *but* the 20% off sale this time was a 40% off MSRP, which worked out OK on a few titles but not all. If you used some of the $5 off $25 coupons then you could get some prices close to or slightly better than 20%/25% off. Maybe in the spring... but don't hold your breath.

No, nothing yet. I emailed them once and the response was that they have no information when this will come back into stock. I am tracking it at amazon and if it goes back down to $30.xx I will buy it there. I could kick my own butt that I didn't spend the extra $5 when it was $30.xx at amazon a few weeks ago.

Watch this closely. I also ordered 8 cds which were all backordered. They started shipping this week at a much higher price than I ordered them and I have had a mess of a time getting DD to straighten it out.

That's f'ed up. I can only imagine trying to get this situation worked out, considering their horrible customer service. I have two dvds backordered. I hope I don't have to deal with the same bullshit you have.

They *just* shipped my CD which I pre-ordered. The release date was 5 weeks ago.

DD is becoming one of those third-rate online shops that doesn't keep much actual inventory in-stock. They don't even order the DVD/CDs from the distributor until you've placed an order. Even popular catalog titles are consistently out of stock.

I got a backorder email from DD today, telling me that Watchmen UC BR is still on backorder and that it will not arrive before Christmas.

At least you heard from them. After they sent me my order confirmation for the backordered Watchmen Ultimate Cut bluray on November 19th, that's the last I have heard from them (needless to say, it has also never arrived.)

I placed several orders and I've only received about half of the items. One CD is back-ordered and I'm okay with that. I received the first two orders in a timely manner. I'm a tad nervous because 3 items (according to their emails) were mailed on the 5th, 7th and 10th and they're not here yet. The 7th and 10th items are still within their estimated arrival dates, however. The one mailed on the 5th will be out of that window as of tomorrow.

I guess patience is the key, but when I've placed orders with other companies long after the DD packages have been dispatched and then have received those orders before the DD packages, it's discomfiting.

I hope the item from the 7th arrives before Xmas. I bought Top Gear Season 10 for my bro-in-law. I love that show.

I'm still waiting on my MR. ED set I ordered back during the sale. This has easily been the longest I've ever had to wait for something that was "in stock" at the time of my order to get to me.
