I've had something take 12 days to arrive and there's only one state between me and where it ships from. For some reason whenever they ship in the plastic holder with cellophane? wrap it takes way longer to get. Usually if they ship in padded envelope or box it takes about 3-4 days, but the other way takes at least a week. Go figure.

I've been able to make use of the $5.00 off coupons and get some decent orders in - but nothing spectacular. My problem at this point is that I've got pretty much everything I want except a few items that have only just been released within the past couple of months (all TV shows). When the sale used to be 20 or 25% off I could just about always buy any dvd for at least half off the MSRP. A least half off, and sometimes closer to 60% off depending on what Deep Discount's starting price was. But now it's impossible for me to get those TV show sets at 50% off or better (except in the cases where I used a $5 coupon). Normally I'd be completely caught up with what I want but now I'm biding my time hoping that Amazon or someone has a decent sale between now and Christmas, especially on vintage CBS/Paramount TV shows. Those make up the majority of what I'm missing right now from my collection.

I don't know if it's a result of lower sales causing better service, but my order from last Thursday arrived yesterday. Absolutely the best turnaround I've ever had from DD.

Yeah I just got two orders from DD and one from DVD Planet in. Probably placed them Thursday or Friday. Amazingly fast turn around for me on all my orders. Though now that i think about it, I haven't recieved The General which shipped out earlier than any of these had. Hmmm. Well, media mail does have it's quirks. I'm not worried about it yet.

Just waiting for today's releases to get updated so I can get off one more small order.

just tried placing an order, but it's saying the coupon code I'm using (LTPVNY3FX8 ) I've already used. I've only placed 3 orders with codes and (FL..., L7...., and N4V...). Unless they kick out another before the sale ends, I may just skip the last order.

I'm actually glad they hadn't updated to 40% off MSRP pricing when I ordered Melrose Place: S5 V2 this morning....they have updated it now, which makes it $23.97, while before it was $25.89....I was able to use a $5 off coupon earlier, so I got it for only $20.89 shipped, better than the new 40% off price!

Yep, I've done the same thing on a number of pre-orders that were priced at $39.95 MSRP. I've actually used more $5 off coupons on pre-orders than current releases. But some of my pre-orders were box sets, so I had to wait for them to be updated today. Took them long enough! :)

I wish that Star Wars 30th Anniversary soundtrack box set would go a little lower. $65 is still as hell of a lot for just the soundtracks to the original trilogy. The movie box set is less than half that FFS! The music shouldn't be worth over double what the goddamn movies are.

None of my orders have come in a box this sale. Not even the flat two dvd boxes they've used in the past. Everything has been in a bubble wrap envelope, including a box set. No complaints about the service or prices- but I do wish they would go back to using cardboard.

I was very suprised when my CDs (3) came in a box large enough to hold a half-dozen DVDs. I've not received DVDs from DD in a box in about a year unless it was a large (6+) order or a larger set (Prisoner, Secret Agent, etc.).

maybe someone can help. i bought the watchmen ultimate cut last night off their site w/ $5 off code.it was listed as instock. this morning i see that the money is on hold from my account with a note that says "This item is temporarily out of stock, and it will ship to you as soon as the product becomes available. We will email you soon with an estimated delivery date. You will not be charged for this item until it is shipped."

and this morning it is out of stock on their site.did i buy it in time or do they usually not update if it was instock or not.im just wondering if i have to wait till they restock on it.

If it is truly out of stock, the money will not be removed from your account. It is just a temporary hold that will be released in a few days. DD will honor your deal once they get more stock. And unless it is an out of print item, they are usually good at getting more stock in. You could call their 800# to see if they have a date for when they will have more stock, but I'm not optimistic that they have this information.
But I can state that I have ordered items from them that are out of stock, only to have them ship 2 days later. So I'd give it a few days to see what happens...

I think the first post has been kept updated, but I see where it says "last edit: ..."

I don't believe there are any $5 off < $25 codes known at this point and, imo, not likely to be. $25 is pretty much the smallest threshold I have seen there.

I was going to place another order to make 3 total... but amazon has taken all my money with the absolutely great Lightning (and other misc.) Deals so far.

DD = $41.84 (and half of that was CDs. Neither purchase would have been made without the $5 coupons)

Amazon = $126.90 (*ALL* DVDs)

Current DD price for what I purchased from amazon = $254.73

I placed two orders today using two of the $5 coupons, it came to a little over $40

out of curiosity I compared the prices to amazon's current prices, all up I saved $31.32, huge difference

Don't understand all the complainers. Using the coupons almost every current DVD and Blu-ray is cheapest at DeepDiscount (outside of some of the Black Friday deals obviously).

Sure, you can no longer order dozens of items and be confident of DD being the cheapest during their sales, but give credit where it is due and realize that DD is still a place to save $. aAd seriously, to expect them to always be the cheapest and take 20/25% off twice a year was unrealistic. We were lucky to have it as long as we did.

^Yes, this is true. Had amazon not had some really good BF/Lightning Deals this week I'd have placed 2-4 more ~$20 orders at DD. While I saved a *lot* at amazon compared to DD there are quite a few items I'd not have purchased at this time outside the amazon sales. So while I got excellent prices/deals it's a totally different set of product coming in than what I'd have purchased from DD.

But I still expect (count on?) the 20%-25% off sale, even though it's a bit unrealistic, and make other purchases based on anticipated prices during these sales. Considering the current sale I don't think I'll be doing as much of that suspecting that it's possibly the new model for the bi-annual sales. Even with the prior % off sales I'd compare prices before ordering, and regularly got caught with much desired items going OOP between sales while I was waiting to save a buck or two. Many of these titles never showed up on the OOP titles thread (or I just missed seeing them). Because of this I've gotten to where I'll just go ahead and order titles I feel are "nich" or "cult" items just in case.
