Target now has HOUSE for $18.99

They just posted the discount for HOUSE S1-4 for $18.99. I bought Season 3 & 4.

I'm not sure if the sale ends this Saturday or at the end of the month

Watch out on Season One. It was originally released with non-anamorphic transfers and that's the version the Targets in my area are selling.

The six-disc version of S1 is the one you want; the non-anamorphic iteration was a 3-discer.

Thanks for the tip. I went to 3 Targets and found one 6-disc Season 1 to replace the 3-disc set.

Is there any easy way to tell them apart?

Someone please correct me if I am wrong but I believe the "old" 3 disc set is slightly thinner than the other seasons, the "new" 6 disc set will be the same thickness as season 2-3.

Also on the specifications on the back of the box:

The 6-disc box set will read "Anamorphic Widescreen 1.78:1"

The old 3 disc set will read "Widescreen 1.78:1"

I would like more info on how to absolutely tell the older non-anamorphic release from the newer anamorphic release.

I did find this article from when the newer release was announced back in Jan:

As stated right above you, the anamorphic re-release is six single-sided discs instead of three double-sided, so the packaging is slightly thicker, but the biggest giveaway is that is SPECIFICALLY states on the back of the box that it is now anamorphic....
Look at the two box backs here:

See the difference now? The old release on top states only "widescreen" in the specs, while the re-release says "anamorphic widescreen"...there are a few other slight changes made too, different URL above the boxes of specs, four boxes of specs instead of five, color change of black to white on the text describing the special features, etc....
I don't know how you would need any more info other than that to tell the difference, it is clear as day....

Thanks for verifying that it indeed does say "Anamorphic" on the back.

And I notice it also gives a different URL for the show just above that (HouseDVD.com on the new one instead of great-tv-shows.com on the old release).

(Unfortunately, the Targets nearest me just have the old release )

I have never seen the anamorphic one at Target in my area, but practically every walmart seems to have them.

BTW, I scanned S4 at Target today, and it did not ring up 18.99. I didn't see signs by any of them. So it might have been a temporary price cut which ended 8/31
