Alias Season Sets $12.99 each at Target

Target has temporary price cuts signs for each of the Alias season sets for $12.99 each. The tags state the price is good for Aug. 4 to Aug. 31.

They also had signs for the Golden Girls sets for $8.99 each.

The target I went to only had the signs up and no stock yet. It looks like they just made space for these sets in the TV on DVD aisle.

Awesome deal for a great show. Production qualities are so high, you swear that you are watching one really long movie. I was so hooked on the show after season 1, I paid 50 bucks for season 2 at Hastings. Only way to see it asap. lol

Re: Alias Season Sets $12.99 each at Target

This is a great series. I didnt watch it as it aired until the 5th season, and that is the only one I have left to watch on dvd. Ive been puttin git off, because once I watch it, that's it. There is no more. Unless I watch the wholoe series again, which I most likely will do at some point. These sets were going for $50 when they were first released, and this is a great price for them. I pieced my collection together from used sets and the odd sale here and there, and probably paid on average close to this. If I didnt have them already, I would jump on this deal.

Sounds like a great price. I'm wondering though what are the odds of a Blu-Ray set of the series. I'd hate to buy these when a BR release was in the works.

One of my all time favorites. I wish they would drop the price of the complete series.

Great price for a great show. The first 3 seasons are especially top notch...

You should definitely finish it. The ending to Season 5 and the series is too good

Even though my girlfriend owns all the sets individually, we found (and bought) the set at a local shop for $60. Luckily we had credit to blow

Definitely encouraging everyone who was curious about this show to jump on this deal, such a great/fun show. Also I believe all the sets I've seen in store are the new "Slim" re-packaging.

+1

After season 3 it goes downhill quickly to just barely better than everything else that was on tv at the time.

So they ended it correctly? I've seen the first 3 or 4 seasons, but never got around to the last.

Signs also up at my store with no discs in sight. They also have signs and empty space for The Golden Girls seasons at $8.99.

No. A shitload of stuff is left unanswered and what is answered is done in such a rushed, slapdash manner that it's almost insulting and makes little sense. What they do to the Irina Derevko character is awful.

The show REALLY went downhill when ABC stepped in and fucked with what the writers had planned for season four.

+1 +1 +1

I don't recall all the details, but the whole "prophecy" surrounding Sydney which was a pretty big deal/storyline was wrapped up in about 5 seconds with very little thought put into it. It left me with a real "WTF are you kidding me? That was it?!?" feeling.

However, again the first 3 seasons were absolutely amazing. I forget which season it was (It might have been the season 3 finale), had one of the best fight sequences I have ever seen on tv. I am seriously considering re-buying the first 3 seasons (had sold them off on ebay years ago after being upset with how they ended the series).

Bought seasons 1 and 2 a couple of years back when they were on sale for $19.99.

Looks like it's time to pick up 3, 4, and 5.

Re: Alias Season Sets $12.99 each at Target

The first season and a half of this show, I thought, was brilliant. It started going downhill midway through the second season and I hated the ending. I have started watching the first few episodes of season 3, which I own, months ago but have absolutely no interest in continuing. I have heard, though, that the show improves. But at this price, it was be worth it to buy the remaining seasons to see if improvement is indeed the case.

Re: Alias Season Sets $12.99 each at Target

I too would highly recommend the first two seasons, and will rebuy them when they get released on Blu-ray.
But the show jumps the shark for me with season 3. It becomes like Smallville in that, no matter what monumental things happen, they never have any real consequence. The players change positions, but it's the same plays run over and over and over again.
Midway thru S3, I lost all interest in the 'bigger questions' and don't have any desire to learn more- although $12.99 is quite a great price point if you can soldier on with it.

Re: Alias Season Sets $12.99 each at Target

Hopefully my Target has the sets. I think I am missing the last 2 seasons on DVD. Need to watch them all. Caught a few on tv in the first season, the never got more into it because of lots of other things on tv at the same time.

Can someone please remind me
Spoiler:
when the "time jump" happens? and Sydney finds herself in Tokyo(?). Was that at the end of season 2 or 3?

That's what I thought after thinking about it some more.

So, I take back what I said earlier about it being great up until season 3.
It was awesome up until the end of season 2 and then went downhill.

Re: Alias Season Sets $12.99 each at Target

I recently picked up 1,2,3 and 5 used for around 10$ each. This seems like a good way to finish the series, but after reading this thread I'm second guessing that move.

Tempting, but doesn't the complete set have a bonus disc? I'll have to wait for a good deal on that.

Or wait for a Blu Ray release - which I really hope they do at some point since it was filmed in HD. I loved this show, but I have to agree, then end to the series was a rushed mess, unlike the first 3 seasons. Still, overall it was a really good show.
