Well, despite what I said, I bought Spaceballs, Fargo, and The Pink Panther, since they came out to $15 apiece. That's a pretty decent price for those. Not as low as it would have been, but that meets my price point.

I just got back from Target, as I went to see what their B1G1 BD stock was. Other than the Da Vinci Code, there wasnt anything I was interested in, although I am sure others would be all over those titles (Pineapple Express, Nick & Norah, Seven Pounds, a few others). Plus, every movie under the promotion was indeed 29.99, which after tax in CA, is close to 33.00.

The Amazon.com B2G1 sale isnt great with the prices being inflated just for the sale, but it's not the worst thing, ever. I scored Da Vinci Code, Good, Bad & Ugly and Slumdog Millionaire for 43.48 with no tax and prime shipping, which had an average price of $14.49, about 2 bucks cheaper than Target's average price, albeit broken up three ways instead of two.

Wished I could have gotten in on the pre-sale antics that went on over the weekend, but it is what it is. Considering the pricing, inflated or not, I doubt I could have done much better on all three movies.

You can complain about the price increases, but this deal is actually better than Deep Discounts 25% off, even when paying on the high end for two titles. Raging Bull, The Graduate, and Young Frankenstein together before the sale on Amazon comes to $57.97. At Deep Discount, with 25% off the total comes to $49.30. During the B2G1 sale at Amazon the total comes to $48.98. About $16 per title.

I was only interested in a couple titles for this sale and the prices are too high for my tastes. I own about 70 Blu-Rays and I got them all for under $15 a piece. You just have to wait a bit until the right sale comes along and for me this isn't one of them.

I'm confused. Is the overall price not cheaper now during the B2,G1 sale than it was last week before they jacked up the prices? Does this not constitute a sale?

Total of all three of the things I considered before the B2G1 = $42.97
Total of all three during B2G1 = $57.97 - $18.49 (Baraka) = $39.48

Difference of $3.48 OR $1.16 per disc. Almost like getting 'em in the Redbox at previous sale prices. Sale? Erm, sort of. Probably better for some other combinations, but not for my scenario and, from what's been said in this thread, not for others.

You're right, but the 3 discs I was looking at getting would have run ~$45+tax, which is over my price threshold for upgrading to Blu-rays on titles I already have on DVD (which applied to 2 of the 3 discs I would have gotten). Had the prices stayed the same as they were before, I would have been all over this deal (and possibly another group of 3).
